Pair of farcical French comedy/mystery classics by Yves Robert: In 'The Tall Blond Man With One Black Shoe' (1972) secret agency chief Toulouse knows that his assistant is after his job. To thwart his deputy's ambitions he sets a trap by arranging for him to investigate a 'nobody' he has picked out at Orly Airport. In fact this decoy is a harmless violinist completely innocent of any crimes. But even his ordinary life under the constant scrutiny of surveillance appears to be weird and suspicious. In 'The Return of The Tall Blond Man' (1974) after his initial series of misadventures, the Tall Blond Man with his Catherine by his side has left for Brazil, wearing his trademark one black shoe and carrying his violin. Unbeknownst to him, however, he's still under surveillance as Milan's death is under investigation by a diligent and over-zealous police captain.
