Courtroom drama directed by Karen Moncrieff and starring Kate Beckinsale. Cate McCall (Beckinsale) is a recovering alcoholic lawyer undergoing a probationary period before she can be reinstated to the bar and improve her chances of regaining custody of her young daughter. While working on an apparently routine appeal case, Cate uncovers a conspiracy which suggests that the police and local DA office are corrupt and have convicted an innocent woman of murder. As she digs deeper, it becomes apparent that she is putting herself in danger from those responsible and that they will stop at nothing to make sure that she is silenced. The supporting cast includes Nick Nolte and James Cromwell.
