Triple bill of war films. 'Age of Heroes' is based on the true story of the formation of the special elite 30 Commando Assault Unit by 'James Bond' author Ian Fleming in the Second World War. The film follows Corporal Rains (Danny Dyer) as he joins the newly-formed 30 AU led by Major Jones (Sean Bean). Rains and the rest of the unit are pushed to the limits of endurance as they train and prepare for their first top-secret mission: to parachute into occupied Norway and seize radar technology from the Germans which could decide the outcome of the war. '1915: Battle for the Alps' (2014) is set in the Dolomite Mountains at the outbreak of war between Italy and Austria. William Moseley stars as Andreas Gruber, a young man preparing to get married to his childhood sweetheart Francesca (Eugenia Costantini). As Andreas is sent off to fight up in the mountains he painfully leaves his love behind giving her a firework to set off if she gets into trouble. Can the pair's love for each other keep them together or will the carnage of war tear them apart? 'In Darkness' (2011) is based on the true story of a sewage worker who saved the lives of 14 Jews in the Polish city of Lvov during the Second World War. Leopold 'Poldek' Socha (Robert Wieckiewicz), a resolutely anti-Semitic sewer inspector who supplements his meagre government income by trading in stolen goods, discovers a group of Jews hiding from the occupying Nazis in the waste tunnels underneath the city. The group begs him to bring them food and Socha agrees - not from any moral compulsion but because he believes he can charge them an extortionate amount of money for what he brings. However, as time passes and Leopold spends more time with the group, the inspector's misanthropic demeanour appears to undergo a change. Finally, the money begins to run out and Leopold is forced to face up to the kind of moral choice he would have scoffed at in the past.
