In 1965 The Who released My Generation which became their first international hit single and a milestone in rock history. Another historic event was The Who's presentation of Happy Jack in 1966 the first so-called concept album in rock music (Sergeant Pepper came later). 1970 saw their release of Tommy the first rock opera ever. Today The Who continue to be one of the most influential bands in music history. Though two original band members died from drug addiction the band continues to sell out the largest venues and stadiums during their occasional tour despite constant... quarreling between two obstinate mules: Roger Daltrey and Pete Townshend. In the 1970s The Who were the hottest live act around. Their trademark destruction of guitars during and after their gigs was regarded the weirdest thing in rock until Jimi Hendrix set his guitar ablaze on stage.
