As usual, the raw drama of the series made it's point well, showing how far apart the bureaucracies of the police and education departments were from modern day life and what they needed to be, the reality of the system is gruesome and you are left with guilt over how the kids become left behind and understand how they begrudge the system.

Behind all this political critique (which is shown through Carcetti's journey through Baltimore's mayoral system and through Prez's new job as a teacher in a Baltimore school) there are other tales to tell, such as that of Omar Little, Bubbles and the new drug Kingpin Marlo Stanfield. Each have their own inter-weaving arc, which include the students, the police and Baltimore politics.

A series that was fantastic in scope and left me wanting more and more, even if it did play with my emotions through-out. It isn't all heart-rending stuff though; there are as usual, hilarious and almost farcical events, tension between the dealers and the police and best of all hope for some characters.

If you have already watched the first, second and third seasons of the Wire, you most definitely want to watch this one. If you haven't started the Wire yet, do so, and remember you have this fantastic fourth series yet to come. I couldn't recommend it more.

Wow, simply WOW!!!! Anyone who has been attached to The Wire will know it's probably one of the best shows on television (if not the best - obviously subject to opinions).

The . We have murders left, right and centre and Marlow's crew know how to stay off the radar as bodies go undetected for long periods. We have some killing machines and some scenes bring a chill down your spine. Although, fictitious, it all seems so real in a way. The Homicide Unit have their work cut out and are in fine form as they deal with drug dealers at the highest level. However, it is clear Marlow is the main man in Baltimore at the tender age of 23 - his competition is still Avon Barksdale!!!

The biggest focal point is in fact the storyline based on 4 young school children. They have their own traits and personalities and the acting by the four is amazing. It's definately worth buying regardless of any cost as you will get true value for your money. There are far too many superlatives to describe the show. In fact, for followers of the series, it does not need selling. Again, absolutely wonderful depiction of reality in Baltimore, taking into account aspects such as education, drugs, police and political impacts for all concerned.

The fourth series of what many consider to be the finest drama on television. Things have changed since the end of the last series: Jimmy McNulty (Dominic West) is now a contented street cop and family man, while in a politically motivated shake-up, Major Crimes detectives Freamon (Clarke Peters) and Greggs (Sonja Sohn) have been shifted to Homicide. Having left the force after accidentally killing another cop in Series Three, Roland Pryzbylewski (Jim True-Frost) is the new eighth grade teacher at the beleaguered Edward Tilghman Middle School. With the fall of Avon Barksdale and his crew, and the ascent of young Marlo Stanfield (Jamie Hector) as West Baltimore's drug king, the detail continues to 'follow the money' up the political ladder in the midst of a mayoral election that pits the black incumbent, Clarence Royce (Glynn Turman), against the ambitious white councilman, Tommy Carcetti (Aidan Gillen). The theme of urban education is explored through four new characters - Michael Lee (Tristan Wilds), Namond Brice (Julito McCullum), Randy Wagstaff (Maestro Harrell) and 'Dukie' Weems (Jermaine Crawford) - as they traverse adolescence in the stunted, drug-saturated streets. Episodes comprise: 'Boys of Summer', 'Soft Eyes', 'Home Rooms', 'Refugees', 'Alliances', 'Margin of Error', 'Unto Others', 'Corner Boys', 'Know Your Place', 'Misgivings', 'A New Day', 'That's Got His Own' and 'Final Grades'.

With the fall of the Barksdale empire, and the ascent of a new young drug king in Baltimore, McNolty, Bunk and the rest of the detail continue to "follow the money" up the political ladder amidst a hotly contested mayoral campaign. Prez witnesses first-hand the role of inner-city education in the formation of youth as four students, Michael, Namond, Randy and Dukie, face dangerous decisions and adolescent angst in a city rife with the temptations of crime and easy money. The explosive fourth season of The Wire continues to blur the lines between good and evil, and incite the fires of urban unrest. Episodes Comprise: 1. Boys of Summer 2. Soft Eyes 3. Home Rooms 4. Refugees 5. Alliances 6. Margin Of Error 7. Unto Others 8. Corner Boys 9. Know Your Place 10. Misgivings 11. A New Day 12. That's Got His Own 13.
