Western directed by Joseph L. Mankiewicz and starring Kirk Douglas, Henry Fonda and Hume Cronyn. Charming crook Paris Pitman (Douglas) is serving time for robbery in Arizona Territorial Prison, unable to get at the $500,000 he has stashed on the outside; but he does have a cunning plan for his escape. Newly appointed Warden Lopeman (Fonda) has a plan of his own however - he wants to use Pitman to rally and unify the other prisoners in the name of reform. Unfortunately for the two men, neither plan goes quite as intended.
