Documentary following three youths in the German Democratic Republic who found skateboarding as a means of escape from their regimented lives. With their lives captured on Super 8mm film, from their childhood in the 1970s to the demolition of the Berlin Wall in 1989, the documentary shows what it was like for three young people living in East Germany. When they get access to an Amercian skateboard smuggled into the country by their neighbour's uncle, the teenagers create their own boards and take up the sport which was seen as an act of rebellion.
