Explore the Algarve. We first visit the capital of Portugal Lisbon- travel over the new Tagus rail crossing and the ferry which links the rail network south of the Tagus with all points north. Detailed maps help the viewer understand the complex rail geography of the area. Then we head south from CP's Barreiro terminus towards the Algarve. After a look at one of Europe's most south westerly towns -Lagos- we join the driver of a class 1800 locomotive for the journey to Tunes. This close relative of the English Electric BR class 50 will travel through orange groves... and pass lemon trees storks and flamingos on its journey east.
