Jamie Bell stars as New York farmer Abe Woodhull who is recruited by his friend Ben Tallmadge (Seth Numrich) to form a group of spies known as the Culper Ring to aid America's fight against the British rule. Turning his back on the colonial government and even his own father (Kevin McNally), Abe soon discovers the perils of his mission as he begins gathering information for the struggling rebels led by General George Washington (Ian Kahn).
