Documentary on the life of influential 1970s fashion designer Roy Halston Frowick, aka Halston. Born in Iowa, Halston rose to fame in 1961 after designing the hat Jackie Kennedy wore to her husband's Presidential Inauguration of that year. It was in 1970s New York that he really found his place, however and his minimalist designs fitted well with the aesthetic of the decade and helped make ultrasuede a household fabric. Halston admirers included such icons of the era as Elizabeth Taylor, Andy Warhol and Liza Minnelli and this documentary recalls the label's glory days and examines the man's role in the history of fashion.
