The Snader Telescriptions are the very first music videos. Producer Lou Snader got the idea to make records for television. After some initial resistance, Snader secured exclusive television contracts with some of the most important musicians of the day.Between 1950 and 1952, over 700 Snaders were made. They were presented on television in much the same way that music videos are shown today. An on camera disc jockey introduced the numbers and made some pertinent comments and then the records for television were shown.The Snaders were very popular with audiences. However,... due to some creative financing rocedures, the whole thing collapsed. Snader's golden opportunity with some of the most successful musical stars of the time disappeared before his eyes.
