Polish war drama. Set during the Second World War, the film follows young soldier Stefan (Józef Pawlowski) as he joins the Warsaw Uprising to take back the city from its Nazi occupiers. Defying the wishes of his family, Stefan courageously joins his friends in taking up arms while they wait for Russia's Red Army to support them in their attack. But instead of heroically taking back Warsaw, the Polish resistance fighters find themselves doomed to fail as they are crushed by the might of the German forces.
