Director Annemarie Jacir's coming-of-age drama traces the story of Tarek (Mahmoud Asfa), a young boy caught up in a Middle Eastern war who embarks on a journey of self-discovery. Forced to separate from his father in Palestine in the midst of the 1967 war, eleven-year-old Tarek (Asfa) and his mother Ghaydaa (Ruba Blal) arrive at the Harir refugee camp in Jordan. Over the coming months, as he finds it increasingly hard to adjust to his new life and the possibility that he will never see his father again, a fiercely independent Tarek begins to look for a way out. When the chance finally arrives, Tarek, realising that anything and everything is possible, sets out on a life-changing adventure to find his father.
