Stuart Millar directs this 1970s Western following the adventures of a Native American boy who enters the world of mainstream America. With his parents rejecting the values of the colonial civilisation that has overtaken their territory, Tom Black Bull (Frederic Forrest) is raised in the wilderness. When, tragically, Tom loses both parents, he has little option other than to seek refuge in the civilisation they despised. There he is taken under the wing of the opportunistic Red Dillon (Richard Widmark), who realises that Tom's gift with horses can be a profitable asset. Will Tom be content with his lot or will he seek his own path?
