Your Highness / Year One / Lan DVD

| DVD

Your Highness Throughout history, tales of chivalry have burnished the legends of brave, handsome knights who rescue fair damsels, slay dragons and conquer evil. But behind many a hero is a good-for-nothing younger brother trying just to stay out of the way of those dragons, evil and trouble in general. Danny McBride and James Franco team up for an epic comedy adventure set in a fantastical world-Your Highness. As two princes on a daring mission to save their land, they must rescue the heir apparent's fiance before their kingdom is destroyed. Thadeous (McBride) has... spent his life watching his perfect older brother Fabious (Franco) embark upon valiant journeys and win the hearts of his people. Tired of being passed over for adventure, adoration and the throne, he's settled for a life of wizard's weed, hard booze and easy maidens. But when Fabious' bride-to-be, Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel), gets kidnapped by the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux)... Year One History was made...by these guys? Zed (Jack Black) and Oh (Michael Cera) are cavemen who stumble out of the mountains into an epic journey of biblical proportions. One’s a bumbling hunter, the other’s a gentle gatherer; together, they become unlikely participants in history’s most pivotal moments. Directed and co-written by comedy legend Harold Ramis (Groundhog Day, Caddyshack, Analyze This), Year One is rude, crude, wildly absurd, deliciously tasteless and laugh-out-loud funny! Land of the Lost Space-time vortexes suck. Will Ferrell stars as has-been scientist Dr. Rick Marshall, sucked into one and spat back through time. Way back. Now, Marshall has no weapons, few skills and questionable smarts to survive in an alternate universe full of marauding dinosaurs and fantastic creatures from beyond our world-a place of spectacular sights and super-scaled comedy known as the Land of the Lost. Sucked alongside him for the adventure are crack-smart research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and a redneck survivalist (Danny McBride) named Will. Chased by T. rex and stalked by painfully slow reptiles known as Sleestaks, Marshall, Will and Holly must rely on their only ally-a primate called Chaka (Jorma Taccone) - to navigate out of the hybrid dimension. Escape from this routine expedition gone awry and they're heroes. Get stuck, and they'll be permanent refugees in the Land of the Lost. Based on the classic television series created by Sid & Marty Krofft, Land of the Lost is directed by Brad Silberling and produced by Jimmy Miller and Sid and Marty Krofft. [show more]

Triple bill of historical comedies. 'Your Highness' (2011) follows two siblings, the arrogant and lazy Prince Thadeous (Danny McBride) and his handsome and heroic older brother Fabious (James Franco). While Fabious spends his days performing valiant deeds such as slaying dragons and rescuing damsels in distress, the life of Thadeous revolves around wine, weed and women. But when Fabious's fiancée Belladonna (Zooey Deschanel) is kidnapped by the evil wizard Leezar (Justin Theroux), Thadeous decides it's time to step out of his brother's shadow and sets out to rescue her with the aid of warrior princess Isabel (Natalie Portman). 'Year One' (2009), set in a twisted version of the Biblical era, stars Jack Black and Michael Cera as two cavemen who decide to venture out into the wider world. Zed (Black), a hapless hunter, and Oh (Cera), a gentle-natured gatherer, are thrown out of their village after a couple of unfortunate incidents. Deciding to head into civilisation, they find themselves caught up in a series of important events and unwittingly exert their own effect on history. In 'Land of the Lost' (2009) palaeontologist Dr Rick Marshall (Will Ferrell), his research assistant Holly (Anna Friel) and redneck survivalist Will Stanton (Danny McBride) find themselves sucked into a vortex and sent back in time. The trio make friends with a primate named Chaka (Jorma Taccone), who becomes their guide in a world full of terrifying prehistoric creatures. Can Dr Marshall find it within himself to get his fellow humans back to their own world intact?
