| RRP Ghost School Horror features four films set in an all-girls' school... But it's more than students that stalk the classrooms! Each tale is haunted by supernatural happenings and curses. In a country where pupils will attend school from dawn 'til nightfall there's no surprise it breeds disturbing levels of competitiveness or jealousies. Whispering Corridors (Dir. Ki-hyeong Park) (1998): A past pupil returns to school as a teacher. Befriending two very different students she triggers a series of increasingly disturbing events. A teacher is found dead and more deaths follow. Events of the past start to influence those of the present. Memento Mori: (Dir. Tae-Yong Kim and Kyu-Dong Min) (1999) When Min-Ah discovers a secret shared diary written by two students at an all-girls' school she finds it a compelling read. She becomes obsessed with the accounts of a secret romance between the two girls but when one of the students is found dead a new terror seeps through the school. Was it suicide or something more sinister? And what is the true meaning of the words written in the diary memento mori (remember the dead). Wishing Stairs (Dir. Jae-yeon Yun) (2003): There's a legend which claims that if you count aloud 28 steps to the school dormitory a 29th stair appears and a spirit will grant you a wish. Jin-sung hopes to win a vital scholarship to ballet school but when a rival wins it's time to seek out the spirit. But be careful what you wish for... The Voice (Dir. Ik-hwan Choe) (2005): Schoolgirl Young-eon is killed apparently by a mysterious voice that no-one else can hear. Her best friend Sun-min soon starts to hear her ghostly voice imploring her to investigate what it was that killed her. But soon others are starting to hear Young-eon's voice and things start getting out of hand...

| RRP Dario Argento's 1998 Phantom of the Opera is about as far from Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical version as it's possible to get. Grand Guignol isn't in it as he ransacks Gaston Leroux's poignant original for all its darkest elements and slathers them in gore. This phantom is no masked stranger, his scars sensationally exposed in the last reel. Instead he is Julian Sands in vampirical mode, an enigmatic wraith with extraordinary, literally mordant, powers, raised by rats in the sewer beneath the Paris Opera. Above ground, the authentically drawn twittering and jealous world of the opera house falls unsuspecting prey to his machinations. As his quest to turn sweet-voiced Christina (Argento's daughter Asia) into a prima donna gathers pace, so the horribly mutilated bodies mount up, meeting their demise in increasingly bloody ways. Sands generates an erotic charge verging on the kinky. His ratty friends share more than the festering food on his table. Somehow, the tragic romance at the heart of the tale survives this boisterous treatment and the overall effect is curiously stylish, marred only by a poorly dubbed soundtrack. A cult movie in the making; definitely one to enjoy after a good night out at the pub.--Piers Ford

| RRP An all-new chapter of horror is about to begin... George A. Romero's Land of the Dead is the acclaimed director's long-awaited return to the genre he invented beginning with the seminal Night of the Living Dead followed by Dawn of the Dead and Day of the Dead. In Romero's harrowing newest vision the world (as humankind has known it) is merely a memory. In its place is the never-ending nightmare existence of us-the living-versus them-the walkers. What's left of mankind is cordoned off behind the walls of a fortified city while the walking dead roam the vast wasteland beyond. The few wealthy and powerful try to maintain an illusion of life as it was dwelling high above the city in the exclusive towers of Fiddler's Green the last bastion of the ruling class. On the streets below however the remaining less fortunate of the city's inhabitants eke out a hard-scrabble life seeking what little solace they can in the vices available-gambling flesh trade drugs-anything that offers even a fleeting respite from the hell their lives have become. Both the lofty heights of Fiddler's Green and the demoralizing lows of the city below are lorded over by a handful of ruthless opportunists led by Kaufman (Dennis Hopper) who keeps his hands in everything from real estate to less above-board pursuits. To bring food and other essential supplies to the occupants of the city and to allow the Green's well-to-do to acquire the scarce luxury items to which they were once accustomed a hardened group of mercenaries-headed by Riley (Simon Baker) and his second-in-command Cholo (John Leguizamo)-run retrieval missions outside the city protected by their massive armored vehicle Dead Reckoning. Riley and Cholo like Kaufman are in it for the money which they hope to use for their own escapes- Riley to the North with promises of a world without fences and freedom and Cholo to the luxury of Fiddler's Green far away from the violent life he has known. While Kaufman and his employees concern themselves with commerce life is changing both within and beyond the walls of the city. Unrest and anarchy are on the rise among the city's disenfranchised and outside the army of the dead is changing evolving learning to organize and communicate. When Cholo commandeers Dead Reckoning intent on extorting millions out of Kaufman and his cronies Riley and his ragtag group-including Slack (Asia Argento) and Charlie (Robert Joy)-are called into action to stop Cholo and in the process protect the city and its population from the growing army of evolving zombies storming its weakening perimeter.

| RRP Black Sunday was such a huge hit that a follow-up was swiftly demanded, and horror maestro Mario Bava duly devised this three-part horror anthology blending modern and period stories. In the giallo-style The Telephone', a woman is terrorised by her former pimp after his escape from prison, and tries to escape him with the help of her lesbian lover, who has a dark secret of her own. In the Victorian-era The Drop of Water', a nurse steals a ring from the corpse of a dead spiritualist, which naturally tries to get it back. But it's the 19th-century Russian story The Wurdalak' that comes closest to Bava's earlier classic, with the great Boris Karloff as a much-loved paterfamilias who might not be entirely what he seems. Features: Bava's direction is as stylish as ever, and Black Sabbath is almost a compendium of his favourite themes. High Definition Blu-ray (1080p) and Standard Definition DVD presentation of two versions of the film; I tre volti della paura' the European version with score by Roberto Nicolosi & Black Sabbath' the re-edited and re-dubbed AIP version with Les Baxter score, on home video for the first time English SDH subtitles for English Audio and a new English subtitle translation of the Italian audio Audio Commentary with Bava biographer and expert Tim Lucas
