After a quarter-century rocking all over the world selling out stadiums topping charts and giving music some of its greatest hands-in-the-air moments Bon Jovi are still sounding as dynamic as they ever did and still performing gigs that quite simply amaze all those in attendance. Having stayed firmly in the hearts and minds of their fans since they exploded onto the scene with Slippery When Wet they also remain true to their bluecollar roots in New Jersey despite the temptations of the rock n roll lifestyle. And in never attempting to keep pace with the whims of fashion they have equally never had reason to fall foul of that shallow grave. Instead they continue to make the music they want to make which just happens to delight millions of the others across the globe. Bon Jovi Round and Round is a quite stunning documentary film telling the entire story of Bon Jovi. Featuring a wealth of interview material with the band themselves as well as rare archive footage exclusive contributions from those closest to the group location shoots seldom seen photographs and a host of other features this programme is an essential addition to any Bon Jovi fan's collection.
Piper at The Gates of Dawn stands alone as the only Floyd album on which Syd Barrett wrote the bulk of the material and performed as lead vocalist and guitarist. This independent film review draws on rare film of Pink Floyd performing these songs which make up Piper. In addition to the reflections of the band themselves the film also features a unique interview with Joe Boyd who discovered Pink Floyd and produced the Arnold Layne single. We also hear the views of Norman Smith the album's producer and John 'Hoppy' Hopkins the original Floyd promoter and pioneer of the famous UFO club in addition to the incisive views of a leading team of music critics and writers. Atom Heart Mother was Pink Floyd's first number one album. Ambitious and challenging the main title piece was an extended instrumental suite co-written and arranged by avant-garde composer Ron Geesin. Thirty-six years on Ron Geesin revisits the work and describes the circumstances surrounding the creation of the album. We also hear the views of David Gilmour Roger Waters and Nick Mason. This comprehensive DVD features the only known footage of a performance of Atom Heart Mother with the complete brass and choir conducted by John Aldiss from the Bath Festival in 1970. Also included are reviews of performances of the prototype work The Amazing Pudding performed by Pink Floyd without the orchestra from radio and television archives and rare radio archive recordings of Floyd performing of Fat Old Sun.

For their homecoming concert in Worcester, Massachusetts in the spring of 2001 Godsmack returned as certified headliners. And for 80-plus minutes, the quartet gives its fans exactly what they came for and love: head-banging, ear-splitting, gut-churning hard rock. The fans, actually, are the co-stars of this in-your-face concert film: there are as many shots of the fist-pumping, bodysurfing crowd as there are of the boys in the band, which may be a clue as to whom this release is aimed at. But those true fans of Godsmack will undoubtedly be sated, since 13 of the group's most memorable slabs of nu-metal--including "Greed", "Awake" and the Grammy-nominated instrumental, "Vampires"--are included. In between the pummelling songs, singer Sully Erna comes across as an articulate spokesman, and it might have been interesting to have a brief interview with him to discuss his band's music; as it is, there are no DVD extras. --Kevin Filipski, Amazon.com

Can there actually be anyone who doesn't know or recognise the song In The Summertime? I doubt it as thanks to the regular use of the song on TV commercials - In The Summertime is one of those instantly recognisable songs. That hit in 1970 was the start of a major career for the band Mungo Jerry who went on to have a number of further hits throughout the seventies including Baby Jump Lady Rose and Alright Alright Alright and while founder member and leader of Mungo Jerry - Ray Dorset - acknowledges his illustrious past like many artists he has moved on and produced a fine and respected body of work that in addition to the many Mungo Jerry releases includes recording an album with Fleetwood Mac legend Peter Green Vincent Crane (Katmandu) and writing songs for the likes of Elvis Presley Dr. Feelgood Bob Dylan Elton John and many others. The band is still led by Ray Dorset of course who in much the same way as Ian Anderson is thought of as Jethro Tull is seen to be Mungo Jerry and the band is still in high demand for live concerts.
