H.P Lovecraft, born on the 20th of August 1890 in Providence, Rhode island, was hardly known as an author during his lifetime. After his death his reputation as master of the macabre was immortalized and his work is considered a classic of horror-literature.On the 18th of August 2005 the World premiere Mountaibs of Madness was dedicated to this master by the artists Alexander Hacke (known as the bass player of the Einsturzende Neubauten), Berlin Icon Danielle de Picciotto and the legendary English group The Tiger Lillies. This humorous and darkly melancholic production combines an unusual combination of variete, opera and gypsy - music with sinister industrial sounds and clashes - the brilliant falsetto-voice of Martyn Jaques, the singin saw, the accordion as well as the upright bass are entwined by Alexander Hacke's electronic soundscapes- a new experience for the Tiger Lillies, who have never been accompanied by electronic instruments before. The beautiful illustrations of Danille de Picciotto influenced by Italian and Dutch renaissance Natura Morta still-lives and modern toy catalogues make up most of the stage-set together with the light-design by Lutz John, usually known for his expressive work with the German pop group Wir Sind Helden.

It is a call to return to our true home the source of happiness. These conversations explore the nature of our desire for happiness with reason humour and love. Despite his disability or maybe because of it Wonder was a musical prodigy. This fascinating programme reveals the struggles that Stevie Wonder faced in his childhood not just his blindness but whilst growing up in an abusive home. Stevie loved music from an early age and by the time he was 9 years-old he was singing and playing harmonica on the street corners of his local neighbourhood. Stevie signed with Motown Records as a teenager and has become one of the most successful recording musicians of his generation. His is an inspiring story of great obstacles but even greater achievement. From a near fatal car accident in 1973 to the day-to-day challenges of his disability Stevie Wonder's story is as unique as his music.
While the post-punk comeback is usually fraught with disasters, Live in Central Park is just part of the Go-Go's dignified and successful return to the music scene. Having dipped their toes in and out of the water since they originally split, 2001 saw the band release their first album in 17 years, the fantastic B00005N9ND God Bless The Go-Go's. This live video finds them riding the crest of that particular wave, with the set relying heavily on new material. Fortunately, the likes of "Throw Me a Curve", "Unforgiven" and "Apologies" are more than a match for their more well-known numbers. As a spectacle, the show is a little flat--a fairly straightforward concert recording--and, to be honest, the Go-Go's were never one of the world's great live bands. While on record their mixture of punk melodies and girl group harmonies is pristine, here the effect is a little more ragged. It's, however, hard to deny the spirit and chemistry that so obviously exists between the five, especially on the power pop rendition of "Our Lips Are Sealed" and closing cover of "I Wanna Be Sedated". This is a far from essential purchase (unlike the CD) but handy for die-hard fans. --Phil Udell
