Fresh from her off-Broadway debut in Best Foot Forward 17-year old Liza Minnelli was already displaying signs of a talent that would go on to win three Tony Awards and an Oscar. This is evident both in her solo work on the show and in her duets with mama. Although Judy and Liza had shared several stages before their songs were always impromptu and so this 16th July 1963 taping of Show #3 is the first official performance of mother and daughter (a year later they would perform two sold-out joint concerts at the London Palladium). Another highlight is Judy's premiere rendition of As Long As He Needs Me from the musical Oliver hauntingly delivered. It is also evidence of her ability to refuse network interference by singing the word hell as written for the song against their wishes. The TV series is the only existing audio and video record the world has of this legendary icon at a physical and vocal peak as an entertainer (not as a character in a movie). The joy warmth humour and soul she displays here will allow you to know what the original diva was like as a person as well as a performer. Tracklist: 1. All The Clouds'll Roll Away (Liza) 2. A jam-packed benchmark 1982 concert from one of the greatest rock bands of all time:The Who. Power-chord inventor guitar-smasher andlyrical genius Pete Townshend; searing vocalist and microphone swinger RogerDaltrey; John Entwistle ('the Quiet One ' 'theOx') holding the whole thing together on bass - these three surviving members of the classic band come together with a hard-driving stand-in drummer (tragically Keith Moon had died a few years earlier). The energy never flags as Townshend Daltrey and Entwistle not only reprise some of the Who's best-loved rockers of the '60's and '70's but also present some new songs pushing boundaries and taking musical flight. 'My Generation ' 'See Me Feel Me ' 'WeDon't Get Fooled Again ' 'Boris the Spider ' 'Pinball Wizard ' 'Who Are You ' 'BabaO'Riley ' 'Young Man Blues'...all of these and many more classic songs get full-on treatment from a band that was peaking even as this concert was filmed.
