Recorded during their sixth visit to Japan in the autumn of 2001, Tokyo Blitz finds Ash on a high. Having pulled off a nifty career resurrection with the superb power pop of their Free All Angels album, the four piece from Northern Ireland (via London, courtesy of guitarist Charlotte) were ready to have fun after two years away from their dedicated fanbase in Tokyo. And judging by the jostling moshpit (well, bouncepit, but still a rarity at Japanese gigs), their fans were itching to enjoy themselves as well. There's even a bout of crowd surfing during "Kung Fu", which seems entirely fitting given the setting. Ash themselves are on fine live form, with drummer Rick dribbling his way through a typically frenetic performance (one close up you wish you'd been spared!). The direction, though, is a little sluggish, with shots from a balcony dissolving into darkness and the perspective from the photo pit failing to capture the full energy fizzing around onstage. That said, you do get right in the faces of the devotees in the front row, and for fans of buzzsaw melodic indie played with suss and confidence, there's no better place to be. On the DVD: It's extra features a-go-go on this DVD. A handful of mini documentaries follow the band as they tour radio stations, go shopping, visit an acupuncturist, go for a meal, hit the clubs and drink as if it's the night before global prohibition. Four one on one interviews give some insight into what it's like being in an affable indie pop band and there's a good segment shot by two fans who get ready at home to see the foursome, travel to the gig, and then bounce up and down with glee. --Ian Watson

Fronted by worship leaders Joel Houston Jad Gillies JD and Matt Crocker the team is an evolving collaboration of pastors worship leaders musicians and songwriters all intentional about giving voice to a generation passionate about God. Everything United does whether it be from recording or writing songs to playing them in front of People and all that goes with that it's an expression of a really extraordinary God doing what only He can do through really ordinary people who love Him want to serve Him and to build His Church. To simply serve God and allow Him to do what only He can do has always been the team's desire. 'We're going into this next season full of expectation and a desire to go further and deeper to find new ways to bring people into the presence of God which is really not that difficult to do if we allow God to be God in the midst of it all.' - Joel Houston. The ProductThe idea of the acoustic sessions was to give people the songs in a stripped back version and setting. Zion was probably our most produced album and definitely the one we have worked the hardest on - so we thought there was a scale of how people would like the songs - one end the produced album versions and the stripped back acoustic versions. We grabbed the band and set up in a café where we live we told a bunch of people to come out and we fed them and sat there and played the songs. It was a pretty cool night! We were there till the early hours of the morning but it gave the songs a whole new life. We are hoping that people find a use for the songs somewhere on that spectrum we know a lot of people enjoy our stuff in the more caustic setting that may be friendlier for them to use in their church or wherever - so in essence this was for them! Although we definitely got something out of the night we recorded them. We also filmed the whole night and that is available as this DVD - just to show the team in a different setting that most people would have seen - the big stage and lights and crowd. We wanted to show that the songs could work in a more intimate setting - we hope people agree. The Essential Alison Moyet is a long overdue video retrospective of one of Britain's finest modern pop singers. To many ears, she has the best vocal equipment of any female pop singer to grace the charts in the last 20 years: a range that can soar from throaty blues to crystalline elegance in a key change. This collection is indeed essential. But it also traces the less satisfactory aspects of Moyet's career. The early videos expose how inept the music industry is at creating an image for a unique and visually unconventional talent. Moyet's talent hasn't always been best served by her choice of material. Still, all those well-produced greatest hits are here: "Love Resurrection", "All Cried Out", "Invisible" and "Is This Love". However, her version of "That Ole Devil" is curiously soulless. Far more interesting are the later songs which reflect her greater input and satisfaction and a palpable relief at leaving the obligations of formulaic pop stardom behind. On the DVD: you can choose between PCM Stereo and Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround Sound (by far the best) to enjoy this wide-ranging set. Moyet's commentary, presented in interview format, offers plenty of insight into the stages of a long career in the business. Of the multiple extras (photo gallery, Web site link and bonus tracks), the most interesting is a BBC guest appearance by Moyet singing a pared-down "Cry Me A River". --Piers Ford

Only beaten by The Beatles, Led Zepplin has sold nearly 80 Million albums only in the USA. Therefore it's needless to say that Led Zepplin still ha...
