  Season 2009/10 found Charlton Athletic in the third tier of English football for the first time in 28 years. And it looked as if their stay would be brief when they opened their campaign with six succesive victories a welcome reversal of fortunes after two relegations in three seasons. Manager Phil Parkinson had been unable to plan because of summer uncertainty about the clubs financial situation but he was eventually boosted by the retention of players such as Nicky Bailey Therry Racon Kelly Youga and Jose Semedo and the signing of the experienced Christian Dailly. Although they could not maintain their blistering early pace the Addicks remained in first or second place until the turn of the year. They would win exactly half of their 46 League matches and draw another 15. But the team slipped into third spot during a spell of severe weather at the start of 2010 and never regained an automatic promotion position despite briefly threatening to do so on the final day of the normal season when an unlikely combination of three different scorelines took them tantalisingly close to success. They were left to take on Swindon Town in the play-offs and went out in the heartbreaking drama of a semi-final penalty shoot-out at The Valley despite having reversed a 2-1 first-leg deficit. The club and its supporters were left crestfallen but when the dust had settled they could still look back on a memorable season including thrilling matches against Leeds United and Norwich City who claimed the automatic promotion places and Swindon who would go on to lose the play-off final at Wembley. This DVD brings together the highs and lows of the season and includes all 71 League goals plus those from the play-offs as well as brief cup action. It also features an exclusive interview with boss Parkinson reflecting on the team's fortunes during the campaign.

Choreographer to the stars Dan Karaty maintains that Kylie and Britney have fantastic bodies thanks to dance. But the opening case study of a real dancer who had to get her figure back after a period of inactivity due to illness is unnecessary. It's only once the charming Karaty goes into the workout that there is no doubt he knows how to put across his point: dance is indeed a fun way to get a good body. The session is divided into six sections which target legs, thighs, burning fat, waist, abs and glutes. "Bounce" features a sexy bounce move, "Slide" is based on a sexy slide from leg to leg, "Rush" is a fast fun section, and by the time you reach the slower "Groove" section you might kid yourself that you're just steps away from looking like Karaty's confident back-up dancers. "Two Step" is the hardest of the six sections in terms of coordination, but it's not impossible. The only disappointing section is the final cooldown. It's not as fun as the rest, and the addition of abs and glutes might complete the fitness aspect but doesn't gel with the rest of the up-beat funky workout. Not for serious fitness fanatics but undeniably fun--and it'll do wonders for your dance-floor cred. --Lorna V

  The sun beat down giving a rare reprieve from the rain and wind so typical of Turnberry as if it knew it had a part to play in the historic events about to unfold on the Ailsa course. The final day of the 1977 Open was to become known as The Duel in the Sun” as two of the game's supreme competitors locked horns in one of the most incredible encounters in major championship history. Tom Watson and Jack Nicklaus had been engaged in a fierce battle sparring at the head of the leader board. After three rounds they shared the Open lead three strokes ahead of Ben Crenshaw. Behind them Trevino Palmer and Ballesteros toiled. They were paired on the final day having matched scores (68 70 and 65) and talent for three days. After just four holes of the final round Nicklaus had a three shot lead but Watson pulled even by the eighth. At the ninth the crowd could contain their excitement no longer the ropes broke and the fans spilt on to the fairway. Jack Nicklaus again forged ahead taking a two-shot advantage by the 12th. Watson hit back by holing a 12 foot putt on the 13th and followed it with an unlikely and spectacular birdie from nearly 60 feet at the par three 15th. Nicklaus missed his putt for a matching birdie. Watson birdied the 17th and when Nicklaus missed his birdie putt led for the first time all day. Watson found the final fairway and then delivered an approach to within two feet of the pin at the last. It looked as if Nicklaus was beaten — his drive was inches from a bush and he had an impeded swing. But this was Jack golf's greatest and incredibly Nicklaus smashed a recovery shot on to the final green. Still he was 40 feet from the hole — a putt that broke in all manner of directions. Watson whispered to his caddie “Jack is going to make that putt — and of course he did. Watson now had his birdie putt for the famous Claret Jug. He could have wavered — but he did not. The Open winning putt went in centre cup.
