Initially one of NBC network's most successful series, The A-Team ran for 90 one-hour episodes (with a few feature-length specials thrown in) from 1983 to 1987. The premise of the series was certainly different. A group of US operatives is sent to rob the Bank of Hanoi during the Vietnam War in an attempt to destabilise the country's economy, but the bigwig who organises the raid is killed, leaving no indication that the mission was officially sanctioned. Returning home, Smith (George Peppard), BA (it stood for "Bad Attitude") Baracus (Mr T), Face (Dirk Benedict) and that "crazy foo" Murdoch (Dwight Schultz) suddenly find themselves accused of criminal activity, obliging them to set up as benevolent mercenaries. They tear around the country in what looks like a delivery van, generally do-gooding while keeping one step ahead of the inept military police. Snappy, witty and fast paced, the series began as a spoof of the action-thriller genre. It wasn't until the later episodes that an element of seriousness crept in, which may have caused the decline in audience figures eventually resulting in the show's cancellation. On video and DVD though, it remains a feast for fans of classic cult TV.--Roger Thomas

Although there have been many regions throughout the United States - and the world at large - that have greatly contributed to the development of jazz a special place must be reserved for the two coasts - namely the cities of New York and Los Angeles - where the bulk of modern jazz developed and evolved. This outstanding DVD pays homage to the two coasts and to some of the most important musicians who have spent a major part of their career there. Some of these musicians were born in the Midwest or the South and later moved to one of the two coasts. What is taken into account when placing the musician in the East or West Coast categories is where they spent the bulk of their artistic career or where they recorded their most influential works. In the case of Lester Young - whose incredible impact was felt throughout the entire country - he was placed on the West Coast due to his especially strong influence on the generations of saxophonists from that Coast. This collection focuses exclusively on live performances ranging from clubs to festivals to TV studio engagements without any speakers or introducers... This DVD features a rare live 1965 London concert of the Bill Evans Trio. The concert was recorded as a single performance to be broadcast as two shows in the BBC Jazz On 625 television series presented by Humphrey Lyttelton. The repertoire is a mixture of Evans originals American songbook titles and modern material including the Newley-Bricusse Who Can I Turn To? and Miles Davis' beautiful Nardis - a tune he himself curiously never recorded. Evans has still barely recovered from the tragic death of bassist Scott LaFaro in 1961 and had waited a year to form a new trio with Chuck Israels on bass and Paul Motian on drums who by this time had been replaced by Larry Bunker.
