The most-watched series in HBO history and a worldwide TV phenomenon, Game of Thrones remains a huge runaway hit for the network. This year, a plethora of compelling storylines will play out to their inevitable, often bloody conclusions. After the shocking deaths of S4, the season begins with a power vacuum that protagonists across Westeros and Essos look to fill. At Castle Black, Jon Snow struggles to balance the demands of the Night's Watch with those of newly-arrived Stannis Baratheon, who styles himself as the rightful king of Westeros. Meanwhile, Cersei scrabbles to hold on to power in Kings Landing amidst the Tyrells and the rise of a religious group led by the enigmatic High Sparrow, while Jaimie embarks on a secret mission. Across the Narrow Sea, Arya seeks an old friend while a fugitive Tyrion finds a new cause. And as danger mounts in Meereen, Daenerys Targaryen finds that her tenuous hold on the city requires some hard sacrifices.
A young woman (Bobbi Sue Luther) wakes up inside a locked casket with no memory of who she is or how she got there. But once she escapes the girl will quickly learn that she - and everyone she comes in contact with - is now being pursued by an unstoppable maniac armed with a chrome skull mask a shoulder-mounted video camera and a ferocious appetite for slaughter. Kevin Gage (Heat) Lena Headey (300 The Sarah Connor Chronicles) and Thomas Dekker (Heroes) co-star in this unflinching vision of graphic carnage from writer/director/FX master Robert Hall featuring music by Suicidal Tendencies and Blackcowboy.
Tom Crick (Jeremy Irons) is a withered history teacher whose students don't find his lessons on the French Revolution worthwhile. So instead Tom spends class time telling his students about 30 year-old family skeletons he's trying hopelessly to forget. Though he shares them with his students Tom's problems are wholly intimate: his wife Mary is on the brink of insanity due to painful memories that haunt her. But as Tom continues to talk he goes further and further back in time n
Gossip is one of a spate of movies that owe a lot to Cruel Intentions. This time it's rich kids in college, but other than that Gossip stays well within the beautiful-young-people-doing-awful-things-to-each other formula. Lena Heady plays Jones, obviously the Smart Girl because she is briefly seen wearing glasses. Jones hangs out with Arty Guy Travis and Handsome Rich Guy Derrick, who finances their adventures and has a little bit of a lying habit. The three are all in the same journalism class (acidic monologist Eric Bogosian plays the acidic professor) and decide to start and track a rumour for their term papers. They pick rich and beautiful couple Beau and Naomi (Joshua Jackson and Kate Hudson) as the focus of the rumour, and before you know it their juicy story starts spinning out of control into ugly territory and a truly ludicrous climax. There are attempts at making sledgehammer points about the slippery task of finding Truth, but mostly Gossip is about the guilty pleasure of watching pretty young actors be mean to each other. You'll hate yourself in the morning, but watch it anyway. --Ali Davis, Amazon.com
