NEVER BRING A KNIFE SALESMAN TO A GUNFIGHT Blending elements of the western and neo-noir, The Last Stop in Yuma County is a loving and expertly crafted homage to the spirit of 1970s American crime thrillers with a modern twist, winning the prize for Best Film at the Sitges International Film Festival. A travelling knife salesman impatiently awaits the arrival of a fuel truck in an isolated roadside diner in rural Arizona. His attempt to wile away the hours with a crossword puzzle and a cup of coffee is interrupted by the arrival of Travis and Beau, two bank robbers fleeing from a heist. Realising they've been recognised, the thieves intimidate the diner's staff and clientele into silence just as more oblivious patrons begin to trickle in. As the tension mounts and pressure spirals, the salesman is caught between protecting the safety of the other customers and his own survival, and will make a decision that will change his life forever. Featuring gripping performances by a cast loaded with genre favourites, including Jim Cummings (The Beta Test), Richard Brake (Barbarian), Barbara Crampton (Re-Animator), Jocelin Donahue (The House of the Devil) and Alex Essoe (Starry Eyes), The Last Stop in Yuma County is a thrilling exploration of the difficult choices and fragile alliances that arise in desperate situations. In 1974, Tobe Hooper changed the face of horror with his landmark film The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Though the hulking Leatherface left an indelible mark upon the cinematic landscape, it wouldn't be until 1986 that the buzz came back in The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2! Relocating the cannibalistic Sawyers to a cavernous labyrinth beneath an amusement park, Hooper's deliciously demented sequel sees local DJ Stretch running afoul of them when she gets mixed up in the brutal slaying of two youngsters. Meanwhile, Lieutenant Lefty Enright is hell-bent on avenging the murder of his nephew Franklin, who perished in the original massacre. Whichever way you skin it, Leatherface's second cinematic outing is an uncompromisingly delirious vision from one of the masters of horror. 2-DISC LIMITED EDITION CONTENTS ¢ Limited edition packaging featuring original and newly commissioned artwork by Ilan Sheady and Dare Creative ¢ Booklet featuring new writing by Johnny Mains, Anna Bogutskaya, Guy Adams and Neil Mitchell ¢ Double-sided fold-out poster ¢ Texas Battle Land theme park postcard ¢ Chili cook-off recipe card ¢ Three double-sided collector's postcards DISC 1 (4K ULTRA HD BLU-RAY) THE FILM ¢ 4K restoration from the original negative ¢ 4K (2160p) UHD Blu-ray presentation in Dolby Vision (HDR10 compatible) ¢ Original lossless stereo 2.0 audio ¢ Optional English subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing ¢ Commentary with director Tobe Hooper ¢ Commentary with stars Bill Moseley, Caroline Williams and special effects legend Tom Savini ¢ Commentary with cinematographer Richard Kooris, production designer Cary White, script supervisor Laura Kooris and property master Michael Sullivan DISC 2 (BLU-RAY) BONUS FEATURES ¢ Are We Not Both the Living Dead?, new visual essay by Scout Tafoya ¢ You've Got Good Taste: Cannibal Camp and Perverse Parody, new visual essay by Miranda Corcoran ¢ Stretch Lives!, interview with Caroline Williams ¢ Serving Tom, interview with makeup effects artist Gabe Bartalos ¢ Texas Blood Bath, interview with makeup effects artist Barton Mixon ¢ Remember the Alamo, interview with actor Kirk Sisco ¢ Die Yuppie Scum, interview with actor Barry Kinyon ¢ Extended interviews with Tobe Hooper and co-producer Cynthia Hargrave, from Electric Boogaloo: The Wild, Untold Story of Cannon Films ¢ It Runs in the Family, (plus outtakes!) on the film's genesis, making and enduring appeal ¢ House of Pain, interview with makeup effects artists Mixon, Bartalos, Gino Crognale and John Vulich ¢ Yuppie Meat, interview with actors Chris Douridas and Barry Kinyon ¢ Cutting Moments, interview with editor Alain Jakubowicz ¢ Behind the Mask and Cutting Moments with Bob Elmore, two interviews with Leatherface's performer ¢ Horror's Hallowed Grounds, featurette exploring the film's locations ¢ Still Feelin' the Buzz, interview with horror expert Stephen Thrower ¢ Behind-the-scenes ¢ Alternate opening credits ¢ Deleted scenes ¢ Trailers and TV spots ¢ Still gallery

Life is Sweet is the remarkable story of an unremarkable British family told in the classic tragi-comedy style that is uniquely Mike Leigh's. It covers issues of unemployment anorexia failure nervous breakdown and hope as they affect one suburban London family and their friends and acquaintances. The characters and story were created with and by the actors - giving a special edge and momentum to the unfolding events. Leigh's sharply satirical and unsentimentally compassionate view of life strikes a chord with audiences and critics alike. Life is Sweet brings together an impressive cast - including Alison Steadman ('Let Them Eat Cake') Jim Broadbent ('The Avengers') Jane Horrocks ('Little Voice') and Timothy Spall ('Topsy Turvey') - many of whom have worked with Leigh in the past as has producer Simon Channing-Williams.

At first, this behind-the-scenes documentary about professional wrestling seems as if it will be an unabashed fan's whitewash of the increasingly bizarre and popular world of "sports entertainment", as it is known. But director Barry Blaustein (a Saturday Night Live veteran who has co-written many of Eddie Murphy's films) goes much deeper than you'd expect in a film that is at once entertaining and disturbing. By focusing on a trio of wrestlers who give him surprising access, Blaustein uncovers human stories that can be wrenching in their stark honesty. That's particularly true of one-time superstar Jake "the Snake" Roberts, whose career has fallen on hard times because of a crack habit; Roberts brings Blaustein along for his first encounter in several years with his grown, estranged daughter. Blaustein also goes into the lives of Terry Funk and Mick "Mankind" Foley in ways that are both revealing and, at times, upsetting. More than just a fan's appreciation, this is that rare documentary that shows you sides of a familiar subject you never knew existed. --Marshall Fine, Amazon.com

  • The Final CutThe Final Cut | DVD | (22/08/2005) from £3.98   |  Saving you £16.01 (402.26%)   |  RRP £19.99

While it works better as a somber mood piece than a futuristic thriller, The Final Cut posits a unique what-if scenario that some viewers will find fascinating. In a role that calls for his low-key One Hour Photo persona, Robin Williams plays an expert "cutter" who's in demand for his ability to distill anyone's lifetime into a feature-length "rememory" film that highlights the better side of anyone's nature. His profession is made possible by the "Zoe" chip, a prenatal brain implant capable of recording a person's entire lifetime--a technology opposed by a former cutter (Jim Caviezel) and puzzled over by Williams' on-and-off girlfriend (Mira Sorvino). First-time writer-director Omar Naim divided critics with his impressive visual style and lackluster screenplay, which fails to account for the larger implications of the Zoe chip's exploitation. Still, the film contains several intriguing ideas that place it among other sci-fi films like Gattaca, suggesting one of the many potential controversies that await us in a future where ethics and technology are not always compatible. --Jeff Shannon, Amazon.com

These four television films originally screened by Channel 4 in 1983 brought the emerging writing talent of former actor David Leland to national attention. He would subsequently win a BAFTA Award for his directorial debut Wish You Were Here and an Emmy Award for his contribution to Band of Brothers and work on screenplays for Mona Lisa and Personal Services. Featuring early roles for Tim Roth and Jim Broadbent the plays form a scathing portrait of British society in the early 1980s focusing in particular on the polarisation of attitudes towards the role and methods of education in an increasingly fragmented society. Without overtly offering solutions Leland s plays depict - often with unnerving acuity and foresight - the experience of individuals within systems that have become inadequate in dealing with the fallout of social breakdown. Of the four plays presented here Made in Britain directed by Alan Clarke (Scum) inevitably aroused the strongest controversy with Tim Roth s astonishing portrayal of a nihilistic racist teenage skinhead captured by Chris Menges innovative cinematography; the screenplay won Leland the Prix Italia in 1983. Birth Of A Nation: Featuring Jim Broadbent the play dramatises the conflict between old authoritarian teaching methods and the more relaxed approach of progressive educationalists. Flying Into The Wind: Graham Crowden stars in a play depicting the battle between parents who want to home-educate their children and the local education authority. R.H.I.N.O.: The harrowing story of Angela a disenfranchised young black girl living in 1980s London and her encounters with a well-meaning but often ineffectual social system. Made In Britain: Directed by Alan Clarke Tim Roth makes his TV debut as a hate-filled teenage skinhead on a self-destructive campaign destined to lead to permanent incarceration.
