Turning Garfield's world upside down Odie is promptly dog-napped by evil TV celebrity Happy Chapman (Tobolowsky) and the corpulent cat must brave the outside world to bring him back! Garfield: A Tale Of Two Kitties (Dir. Tim Hill 2006): Garfield America's favorite cat is going continental. He's traveling across the pond (with canine sidekick Odie) to surprise his master Jon Arbuckle (Meyer) who is in London to propose to his girlfriend veterinarian Liz Wilson (Hewitt). In the land of Big Ben Buckingham Palace Scotland Yard and fish and chips Garfield's British invasion takes on a Prince and the Paw-per dimension. He inadvertently swicthes places with the Prince a royal cat (and by luck his exact look-a-like) who has just inherited Castle Carlyle from his deceased owner Lady Eleanor this is a huge disappointment to her dastardly nephew Lord Dargis (Billy Connelly). Now living it up as the Cat of Carlyle Garfield has a butler and an international array of servants and subjects including Winston a very English bulldog; McBunny a Scottish hare; Nigel a Punjab ferret; Bolere a Sapnish bull; I Claudius a Shakepeare quoting mouse and Christophe a French goose. Meanwhile Prince is living the simple life of a commoner hitting the pubs with Jon and Oldie getting his first taste of lasagne...and loving all of it! Uneasy is the head however that wears the crown. Lord Bargis who is next in line to the estate wants Prince/Garfield out of the picture. Garfield's bigger better more pur-fect world is soon turned upside down in the tale of two kitties!

  The opening scenes of The Replacements see American football team, the Washington Sentinels, in dire straits. The players have walked out in a protest over pay at a vital point in the season, forcing the Sentinels' owner to bring veteran coach Jimmy McGinty (Gene Hackman) out of retirement to put together a replacement team. He assembles a group of oddballs and misfits including failed quarterback Shane Falco (Keanu Reeves), a boozing Welsh brawler (Rhys Ifans), a convicted former football pro, a deaf mute, a psychopathic ex-cop, a sumo wrestler and a kleptomaniac (Orlando Jones) who has trouble catching the ball. It is Falco's job to pull the team together and overcome his own problems to take the Sentinels to the playoffs. Howard Deutch (Pretty in Pink, Grumpier Old Men) directs this variation on a losers-make-good storyline that runs like Police Academy on the playing field. Keanu plays the Steve Guttenberg role. Sandra Bullock clone Brooke Langton provides the all-too-predictable cheerleading love interest, while Rhys Ifans delivers light relief as the team's chain-smoking kicker. On the DVD: The main feature is presented in letterboxed widescreen format with Dolby Digital 5.1 sound in three languages (English, Spanish and Italian). There are optional subtitles in 20 different languages. Interactive menus are slickly designed like the yard markings on an American football field and provide access to a range of special features. As well as a theatrical trailer and commentary by director Howard Deutch, there is a 15-minute HBO special "The Making of the Replacements" hosted by Orlando Jones and a 10-minute "Actors Guide to Football" which provides a detailed look at the way the entirely authentic football sequences were planned and filmed. --Chris Campion

  This underrated teen comedy from 1998 is guilty of being a proud underachiever, and it doesn't bring anything new to the genre, but look closely and you'll find the makings of a much better movie buried under all the keg-party antics. The basic story is typical for this kind of comedy. A young, aspiring writer named Preston (Ethan Embry) has been lusting after class beauty Amanda (Jennifer Love Hewitt, from TV's Party of Five) for four years of high school, but he's never had the nerve to tell her. Now that they're about to graduate he has finally worked up the courage to write her a soul-baring love letter. At the raucous graduation keg party that takes up most of the movie's 98 minutes, Preston agonises while Amanda's selfish jock ex-boyfriend tries to win her back, and delivering his love letter turns out to be more difficult than he ever imagined. What's interesting about Can't Hardly Wait has little to do with its attractive leads, however. The most engagingly real and entertaining characters are the misfits who show up in the sub-plots, including a geek (Charlie Korsmo) who turns into the life of the party and a pair of old friends (Seth Green, Lauren Ambrose) who confront each other about their mutual needs and insecurities. There are some really good scenes between these two and this modest movie has a few other pleasant surprises up its sleeve. That doesn't make it particularly good but it does make it an agreeable waste of time. --Jeff Shannon

  Directed by Milos Forman, The People vs. Larry Flynt is the fictionalised, but true, story of how smut-peddler Larry Flynt--the poor man's redneck Hugh Hefner--ended up appealing a libel case (brought by televangelist Jerry Falwell) to the US Supreme Court and winning a major legal victory that affected all Americans. It transpires that the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights--as brought to life in this splendidly quirky and alternately reverent and irreverent comedy--ensures everyone's freedom by protecting a whole range of expression, from the banal to the outrageous. Scripted by the writers of Ed Wood (another affectionately twisted biography of a disreputably eccentric entertainment figure), The People vs. Larry Flynt applies a similar sort of exaggerated and telescoped editorial-cartoon sensibility to the wild life and times of Hustler skin-magazine publisher Larry Flynt. There are terrific performances by Woody Harrelson as Flynt, grunge-star-turned-glamour-puss Courtney Love as his wife Althea and Edward Norton as their lawyer (a composite character). --Jim Emerson

  Regardless of the moniker, this superb slice and dice sickie is one of the most underrated knife-play pot boilers ever imagined... with Love portraying a femme fatale that has a damaged background and a wonderfully skillful way with sharp utensils. Let's put it this way: you may well want her to undress... but the chances are that it is her who will be doing the penetrating! Whilst THE BOOGEYMAN might be Lommel's most famous freak-show, PROZZIE is his most outrageous orgy of sex and violence and only 88 Films, the label that seeks out forgotten splatter flicks and restores them in awesome HD, could have understood the need for a new generation to see this crimson-caked gem in all of its hi-def delirium!!! See PROZZIE and admire a timeless mix of curves and carnage!

  In the fourth and reportedly final film of the Lethal Weapon series, director Richard Donner reunites with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover, who reprise their roles as Martin Riggs and Roger Murtaugh for one last hurrah in a film that is decidedly better than the third and first chapters. This time the pair are pitted against Jet Li, who plays the leader of a Chinese organised crime unit. Li, a veteran of hundreds of Hong Kong action films, more than holds his own against the more established team of Gibson, Glover, Rene Russo and Joe Pesci with his subtle yet strong portrayal of the quietly irrepressible Wah Sing Ku. As always with the Lethal series, the plot is incredibly simple to follow: someone steals something, someone gets killed and Murtaugh is reluctantly thrown into the mix while Riggs dives into the case with gleeful aplomb. As with the previous movies, we watch for the sheer action and chemistry alone. The action sequences throughout the fourth instalment are exquisite, from the opening scene involving a flame-thrower, a burning building and a half-naked Murtaugh strutting like a chicken (don't ask, just watch), to the climactic showdown that pays genuine tribute to Jet Li's masterful martial art skills. As for chemistry, the bond between these characters is so strong by now that you sometimes feel like you're watching a TV series in its sixth season, such is the warm familiarity between the audience and the personalities on the screen. The humour is more fluid than ever, aided immeasurably by the casting of comedian Chris Rock, who like Li does a great job of making his presence known in some memorable verbal tirades that would bring a smile out of the Farrelly brothers. But it's the verbal and emotional jousting between Glover and Gibson that makes this fourth episode especially appealing; both are in peak form with great physical and verbal timing. One can only hope that if this is indeed the last of the Lethal films, that it won't be the last time we see Glover and Gibson together on screen. --Jeremy Storey

Armed with his unique talent for inventing Rodney embarks on a journey to Robot City to meet his idol the majestic inventor Bigweld voiced by Mel Brooks. An iconic figure in all of Robot City Bigweld has spent a lifetime creating things to make the lives of robots better. Once in Robot City Rodney finds that things are not quite as he expected and his quest may be a lot harder than he imagined. As he tries to navigate his way around this new city Rodney befriends the Rusties a ragtag group of street-smart bots who know the ropes. One of the Rusties Fender (voiced by Robin Williams) immediately becomes Rodney's best friend and even lets his spunky kid sister Piper Pinwheeler (voiced by Amanda Bynes) tag along. They take him in and for now at least Rodney has a home in Robot City. Rodney also meets Cappy (voiced by Halle Berry) an executive at Bigweld Industries who takes an instant liking to Rodney and sees a lot of herself in him. Along their adventures Rodney and his new friends encounter unsavory characters who try to derail Rodney's plans to find Bigweld and save Robot City. The result is a timeless comedic tale that pushes the boundaries of animation while introducing characters rich with humor and soul and a heart-warming story proves that a robot can shine no matter what he is made of. In addition to Ewan McGregor Robin Williams Halle Berry Mel Brooks and Amanda Bynes 'Robots' boasts the following ensemble cast: Drew Carey Jim Broadbent Paul Giamatti Jay Leno Dianne Wiest Stanley Tucci Jamie Kennedy and many others. Ice Age (Dir. Carlos Saldanha 2002): A star-studded cast provides the voices for the prehistoric creatures in this computer-animated feature set 20 000 years ago as the Ice Age approaches. Seemingly anti-social Manny a woolly mammoth (voiced by Ray Romano) acts as if he just wants to be left alone. When he meets Sid (voiced by John Leguizamo) a sloth the two become unlikely traveling companions. The plot thickens when the duo finds a human infant and decides to try to return the child to its herd. Manny slowly but surely reveals his heart of gold while Sid continues to provide comic relief. Diego (voiced by Denis Leary) a saber-tooth tiger with ulterior motives soon joins them in their search for the humans. Ultimately this group of misfits becomes its own herd learning about friendship and loyalty as they brave snow ice freezing temperatures predators hail and even boiling lava pits. All the while a saber-tooth squirrel Scrat provides comic relief as he valiantly struggles with an acorn. A well-written humorous script and endearing characters mesh well with the state-of-the-art technology and effects. Other stars lending their voices to the feature include Goran Visnjic Jack Black and Jane Krakowski.
