Rust Never Sleeps its aphoristic title drawn from an intended advertising slogan was an album of new songs some of them recorded on Neil Young's 1978 concert tour. His strongest collection since Tonight's The Night its obvious antecedent was Bob Dylan's Bringing It All Back Home and as Dylan did Young divided his record into acoustic and electric sides while filling his songs with wildly imaginative imagery. The leadoff track ""My My Hey Hey (Out of the Blue)"" (repeated in an electric version at album's end as ""Hey. Hey. My My (Into the Black)"" with slightly altered lyrics) is the most concise and knowing description of the entertainment industry ever written; it was followed by ""Thrasher "" which describes Young's parallel artistic quest in an extended metaphor that also reflected the album's overall theme -- the inevitability of deterioration and the challenge of overcoming it. Young then spent the rest of the album demonstrating that his chief weapons against rusting were his imagination and his daring creating an archetypal album that encapsulated his many styles on a single disc with great songs -- in particualr the remarkable ""Powderfinger"" - unlike any he had written before. Now for the first time ever Sanctuary Records is proud to release the legendary concert movie Rust Never Sleep on DVD. Recorded at San Francisco's Cow Palace in October 1978 the movie documents one of the most remarkable concert performances ever put on film.

Norman Wisdom reprises his best-loved character, the comically inept Pitkin, in 1965's The Early Bird, ably supported once again by Edward Chapman in his final appearance as Mr Grimsdale. This time around Wisdom is the only milkman working for Grimsdale's Dairy, a small business threatened by a menacing large corporation in the shape of Consolidated Dairies and their electric milk floats. Grimsdale and Pitkin must evoke the Dunkirk spirit to save their family firm from the grasp of the faceless giant. Of course, the wafer-thin plot is the merest excuse for a series of calamitous set pieces in which Wisdom wreaks havoc in his trademark bumbling manner. The best bits involve a disastrous game of golf, the usual shenanigans with a fire hose and a virtuoso tour de force opening sequence as the household struggles to wake up in the morning. Wisdom's own brand of Jerry Lewis-inspired clowning, with mugging and pratfalls aplenty, is all good clean fun with little or none of the smutty innuendo that characterised the contemporary Carry On series. He carries this film, as he does all his others, solely on the strength of his winningly naïve charm: this is innocent comedy from the days before supermarkets really did wreck all the local businesses, not to mention from the days before The Godfather gave a whole new spin on the comedy value of going to bed with your horse. On the DVD: There are no extra features on this disc at all. Given Wisdom's household-name status and the longevity of these much-loved movies, this seems like a sadly missed opportunity. The 4:3 picture has not been digitally remastered and shows its age, as does the muddy mono soundtrack. Only Ron Goodwin's wonderfully tongue-in-cheek music score comes across reasonably well. --Mark Walker
Even though Transformers--Generation 2 was released after Transformers Volume 1, it shouldnt be confused with Transformers--Volume 2. Got that? Good, because Transformers--Generation 2 is a collection that is best left to the completists and die-hard collectors. Theres no denying that the five episodes here ("More Than Meets the Eye Parts One Three", "SOS Dinobots" and "Heavy Metal War") are all classics. Its just unfortunate that the versions on offer are from the later Generation 2 series. See, after the Transformers franchise had all but sunk into obscurity, the toys were relaunched and given a new shot at life as Generation 2. And just as the old toys were given new paint jobs, the old episodes were updated and enhanced by the best technology a relatively low-budget production could buy. What this translates into is lots of annoying computer graphics (called the "Cybernet Space Cube") popping up at random intervals to denote a new scene, or even just a change in camera angle or character perspective. The results would test the limits of even the shortest attention spans. So while Transformers--Generation 2 does collect some of the finest episodes of the Transformers cartoon, telling the origin of the heroic Autobots and the evil Decepticons and how they came to earth, as well as introducing the popular Dinobots and Constructicons, its ultimately a frustrating experience. Fortunately, there are better Transformers DVDs out there. --Robert Burrow
