Based on Peter Barnes' hit play this caustic hilarious and irreverent black comedy has rightly become a cult classic. The House of Gurney has a family problem - namely the 14th Earl of Gurney (Peter O' Toole) who thinks he is Jesus Christ and when restored to 'normalcy' turns into Jack the Ripper. Unfortunately the young earl is also the sole heir to the family fortune so his relatives go to great lengths to trick him into siring a new heir. Then they can institutionalise him and gain access to the money through the child. But the 14th Earl of Gurney has a few tricks up his sleeve... This controversial tragicomedy managed to condemn just about every section of British society - from the public school system to the Houses of Parliament and from the Church to homosexuality. It also boasts some truly inspirational performances including O'Toole (who received an Oscar nomination for his tour de force role) Alastair Sim as a feeble-minded bishop and Arthur Lowe as a hilariously insolent left wing manservant.

One of the most endearing aspects of Bear in the Big Blue House is everyone's habit of talking directly to the camera. This has been a part of Muppet practice for years, but when Bear is politely explaining the importance of brushing your teeth before bedtime, it makes children pay attention far more readily. Especially when everyone then breaks into song! That of course is the other delight about the show, when little bear Ojo, Tutter mouse, Pip and Pop, Treela the Lemur and Luna the Moon all join in one of the cute and catchy numbers. The songs featured across the three episodes here ("The Big Sleep", "And to All a Good Night" and "Friends for Life", all from the show's first two series) focus on the rituals of bedtime. The idea is that these each make an ideal comforter to send a child to bed happily. If this is your goal, the second episode--about getting to stay up late--may not be the best choice. On the DVD: Bear in the Big Blue House: Sleepytime with Bear gives karaoke treatment to six of the best songs, including the all-time classic "Brush Brush Bree". That's it apart from a few trailers. You do also get a couple of pages for colouring in attached to the booklet insert. The shows are presented in their original stereo sound and TV 4:3 ratio. --Paul Tonks

Dispensing with the play's poetry for nudity and sexual frolics, Caesar is portrayed as a grotesque slob lamenting the lack of beauty amongst his daily orgies. The arrival of the stunning Cleopatra (played by Afro-American actress Sonora) adds a touch of exotica, however proves more than a handful for the infatuated Mark Anthony. Events take a sinister turn as jealousy overcomes both men in their passion for the Queen of the Nile, leading to a bloodbath of murder and mayhem. Stuart Lancaster (Faster Pussycat! Kill! Kill!) plays the benefactor behind the experiment, a deranged billionaire whose manhood is the size of a peanut. The Toy Box:Possibly cinema's first mix of sex, sci-fi, horror and drugs! Widely considered Novak's finest sexploitation movie, The Toy Box revolves around a swingers party, where the guests act out sexually perverse scenarios for a man called Uncle to obtain gifts from a mysterious toy box. Starring the lush, buxom goddess Uschi Digard, this is a hallucinatory, delirious and widely erotic spectacle that is a must-have for every fan of cult, horror or sleaze.
