The Girl...Trilogy (Extended Version) Blu Ray

| Blu Ray

Here it is at last - The Girl...Trilogy (Extended Version) - all three of Steig Larsson's severely bleak, harrowing novels from the Millenium Trilogy, powerfully adapted onto film and now available in one package on DVD and Blu-ray. Larsson's ingeniously complex, disturbingly traumatic plots are expertly brought to life by Noomi Rapace as Lisbeth Salander and Michael Nyqvist as Mikael Blomkvist.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo opens with Swedish journalist Mikael Blomquist, part owner of Millennium magazine, being prosecuted for libel after being set-up... by crooked financial tycoon Hans-Erik Wennestrom. After being investigated by Milton Security's best researcher, Lisbeth Salander, an irascible, rebellious computer hacker (known as Wasp) with a photographic memory and Asperger's syndrome, Blomquist is given the opportunity to step out of the limelight at Millennium for six months prior to the start of his prison sentence. He accepts the chance to work for Henrik Vanger and sets about trying to solve the 40 year old disappearance of Vanger's niece with Salander's help.

The Girl Who Played with Fire picks up the story after Blomquist's release from prison. He returns to Millenium and single mindedly launches into exposing those responsible for a multi-million dollar sex-trafficking racket he has been given leads into. Salander finds she has been blamed for several murders and has to disappear to avoid capture but she hacks into Blomquist computer to help him solve the case remotely. As Blomquist begins to try and clear Salander's name he discovers secrets from her past which are sickeningly connected to his on-going investigation.

The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest -the final instalment - sees Salander in hospital recovering from injury after the showdown with her father in the previous episode. Still accused of multiple murders and living with the threat of being murdered herself, Salander's only chance is to tell her story through Blomquist and Millennium magazine. Only by clearing her name and exposing a corrupt government department can she avoid being locked up forever by paedophile psychologist Teleborian. Blomquist manages to smuggle a hand-held computer into Salander's room and she sends him the horrific tale of her institutionalised childhood during which she suffered gross physical and sexual abuse by many of her carers.

Gritty, unsettling, distressing, moving - a must-have for devotees of Stieg Larsson's extraordinary books.

Trilogy of films based on the bestselling novels by late Swedish author Stieg Larsson. 'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo' (2009) revolves around the mystery of 16-year-old Harriet Vanger (Ewa Froling), who disappeared in 1966 on an island owned by the powerful Vanger family. Nearly 40 years later, disgraced magazine journalist Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) is contacted by Harriet's uncle, powerful industrialist Henrik Vanger (Sven-Bertil Taube), who asks him to write the history of the Vanger family and find out what happened to Harriet. Joining forces with a troubled young computer hacker, Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace), Blomkvist starts to delve into the past of the Vanger family - and unearths a history more sinister and violent than he could ever have imagined. In 'The Girl Who Played With Fire' (2009), computer hacker and all-round wild child Salander disappears after being framed for the murders of the authors of a meticulously researched expose of the Swedish sex trade. Suspecting that Salander is the victim of a set-up, Blomkvist sets out to investigate the case and clear her name. He soon uncovers some ugly truths that lead him shockingly close to home. 'The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest' (2009), the final instalment in the trilogy, opens with Salander in intensive care after an injury suffered in the previous film. As she awaits trial for three murders and one attempted murder, Blomkvist goes all out in his attempts to prove her innocence. Salander, meanwhile, plots her own retribution against the people and government agencies who have destroyed her life - some of whom turn out to be far closer to her than she could have imagined. All three films are offered in extended versions, with a total addition of two hours of feature content never previously released.
