Lisbeth Salander is back in trouble again! Mikael Blomqvist (Michael Nyqvist) has returned to Millenium magazine after serving the term of his prison sentence. He is all fired up with one objective in mind; exposing those responsible for a multi-million dollar sex-trafficking racket. Without his knowledge, Salander (Noomi Rapace) has been helping him; hacking into his hard drive, using information he has collected and feeding him clues in return. When Dag Svensson (a journalist and friend of Blomqvist), Dag's girlfriend Mia Johansson and Salander's guardian Nils Bjurman... are found dead, Lisbeth Salander finds she has been accused of their murders. She disappears to avoid being caught by the police, only making matters worse. Blomqvist sets about trying to clear her name but comes to realise that his own ongoing sickening criminal investigation is somehow shockingly embroiled in Salanders horrendous past. The film is once again remarkably loyal to Stieg Larsson's book. The film includes some brutally violent scenes which are vital for the progression of the plot but they are nicely balanced out by the portrayal of the fragile but tender relationship that still exists (albeit remotely) between the two main characters. As with the book, there are plenty of loose ends remaining to be dealt with in the third instalment.
