THE GIRL WHO PLAYED WITH FIRE is the bridging chapter of Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy, following on from the events of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO and concerns a crusading magazine publisher as he embarks upon a quest to uncover Sweden sex trafficking industry.

This Swedish mystery thriller marks the second instalment in the trilogy of films based on the bestselling 'Millennium' novels by Stieg Larsson. Computer hacker and all-round wild child Lisbeth Salander (Noomi Rapace) disappears without trace after being framed for the murders of the authors of a meticulously researched expose of the Swedish sex trade. Suspecting that Salander is the victim of a set-up, editor-in-chief of Millennium magazine Mikael Blomkvist (Michael Nyqvist) sets out to investigate the case and clear her name. He soon uncovers some ugly truths that lead him shockingly close to home.
