Although more notorious for his outrageous stage antics than for his music GG Allin recorded prolifically not only in the punk rock genre but also in spoken word country and more traditional-style rock.
Schubert's 'Tragic' Symphony and Mozart's 'Paris' Symphony are performed by the Wiener Philharmoniker under the baton of Nikolaus Harnoncourt at the Wiener Musikvereinsaal in 1984. Harnoncourt goes back to Schubert's original manuscripts to perform the music in its purest form - the result is music that is full of heightened drama and dynamics. Harnoncourt joined forces with The Chamber Orchestra of Europe for Mozart's last symphonies (Nos. 39-41) performed at the Wiener Musikvereinssaal in 1991. Known throughout the world for his highly original approach to classical music conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt reveres Mozart as 'the most romantic composer of all'.

Rick James was a true larger than life character, as famous for his electric live performances as he was for the trouble he got into off stage. He arrived on the Motown label in the late seventies and reinvigorated the company with a string of hit singles and albums and his outrageous style and personality. This concert filmed for the German TV series Rockpalast came on the back of his multi-platinum selling 1981 album “Street Songs” which contained what would become his signature track “Super Freak”, later converted by MC Hammer into the global hit “U Can’t Touch This”. Rick James died at the age of just 56 in August 2004. We will probably never see his like again but this DVD shows just what an amazing live performer he was.
