The Wing Will Fly - From The Flying Wing To The Stealth Bomber | DVD | (06/04/2010)
from £6.65
| Saving you £3.34 (33.40%)
| RRP Today, the B2 Stealth Bomber is one of the most advanced aircraft in the world, but the principles of its design can be traced back over many decades to the early 'Flying Wing' prototypes designed by Jack Northrop. The Wing Will Fly is the truly definitive story of those incredible and futuristic 'Flying Wings'. Meticulously researched and packed with manufacturer's own footage of the different 'Wings' in flight and on trial, this totally unique DVD also includes interviews with both the men who built the 'Wings' and the surviving test pilots The story of the 'Flying Wings' is every bit as incredible as the machines themselves. There is no doubt that the project was plagued by mechanical difficulties, but was sabotage responsible for both the fatal crash of the XB-79 and the YB-49? Was Jack Northrop right when he claimed that the advanced project was cancelled due to corruption in the placement of air force contracts? Broken-hearted, Jack Northrop retired from the Northrop Corporation in 1952. Almost thirty years later, he was whisked away to a top secret Northrop installation to be shown a model of the new B2 'Stealth' bomber - which had been developed from his 'Flying Wing' experiments all those years ago."
