Rattlesnakes - Travel across North America for a ground level view of more than six species of these fascinating and potentially lethal pit vipers. The Siamese cobra is one of the deadliest snakes in the world and in Thailand it's also one of the most common reptiles. The 'INVENTING CUISINE' documentary series looks at portraits of some uncommon artists: great French chefs who keep on inventing and re-inventing today's cuisine. Beyond their style differences, this series gives us a privileged witness and fascinating insight to their art and the unique way that each chef prepares their cuisine. After filming portraits of French chefs -all men- Paul Lacoste turns his lens to a woman, Nadia Santini. Here, as always, Nadia has her entire family by her side: her mother-in-law, her husband, her two sons, and her daughter-in-law. This is cuisine Italian-style! This film speaks about tradition, heritage, and history, but the focus is squarely on the culinary art of Nadia Santini. Although Nadia's cuisine is often hidden behind the traditions that she is constantly reviving, her absolute sincerity reveals an unassuming pride in her work. From her viewpoint at Dal Pescatore in the northern Italian town of Canetto sull'Oglio, Nadia observes the world around her. In her hands, these traditions, described as knowledge by her mother-in-law Nonna Bruna, are translated into a vision of modernity, offering a different approach to inventing cuisine.

Megaliths, Menhirs, Stone Circles, Dolmen and the graves of Kings. Left behind by an early European culture, the origins of these fascinating structures have become lost in the mists of time. Who were the magnificent master builders? What meaning did the Menhirs, Stone Circles and Dolmen have to people of ancient civilizations? The oldest Megalithic grave dates back 6700 years - approximately 2000 years older than the pyramid culture of Egypt. What happened on the Druids alters and which cruel rituals where practiced there? What are the meanings behind the Stone Circle of Avebury and who built Stonehenge? This DVD explores all of these questions in prolific detail and attempts to find the answers to these fascinating mysteries. The Megalithic structures are truly delightful to behold and can vary significantly from huge single stones to breath taking structures pieced together without the aid of mortar or cement. With some megaliths dating back almost 7,000 years, it is remarkable that thousands still remain throughout Europe, Africa and Asia virtually unchanged from when they were originally built. By far the most common type of megalith in Britain is the stone circle of which there are hundreds still standing; the most obvious and recognisable being Stonehenge in Wiltshire, England. Being erected approximately 4,500 years ago, the site served as a burial ground for over 500 years. This DVD explores the famous site and reveals key details about its origins and history. Featuring over 60 minutes of documentary footage and bonus material, this DVD charts the history of some of the most impressive and mysterious structures from around the world and should appeal to all with an interest in the Iron and Bronze Ages.

This is the remarkable story of Reinhard Gehlen, former head of the West German Secret Service, who helped to found the CIA, the American Central Intelligence Agency. Gehlen was Hitler’s Chief of Intelligence on the Russian Front during World War Two, but long before May 1945 he had secreted himself and his files on the Soviets away from Berlin to the so-called Alpine Redoubt in Southern Germany, while he awaited his chance to bargain for his freedom with the advancing Americans. His bargain was accepted and he and his files formed the basis of the CIA when it was set up in 1947. At the height of the Cold War, three quarters of the West’s intelligence regarding the Soviets came, it was said, from Gehlen who recruited, trained and infiltrated behind the Iron Curtain more than 5000 secret agents. The story is traced from Gehlen’s joining the Nazi party during the early 1930s to his retirement on a CIA pension in the late 1960s.
