When retiring Iowa farmer Larry Cook announces that he wishes to split his land between his three daughters, the eldest - Ginny (Jessica Lange) and Rose (Michelle Pfeiffer) reluctantly agree. However, Caroline (Jennifer Jason Leigh) disagrees, and is disowned by Larry as a result.
