A man (Jack Black) whose brain becomes magnetized unintentionally destroys every tape in his friend's (Mos Def) video store. In order to satisfy the store's customers the two men set out to remake the lost films themselves.
Be Kind Rewind is not your average comedy and that is most obvious at the beginning. The first 30 minutes of the film don't put it in a good light, but if you can get past that and get upto where the spoofs start coming then it only gets better from there. The spoofs are hilarious [as you would expect] and will hopefully have you laughing out of your seat.
It's a film with heart and emotion, the script isn't the best so it's not without it's flaws but it's a good film to just watch one evening and forget about the next.
I'd recommend it - definately if you're a Jack Black fan (even though it's not his best performance!)

Jerry accidentally erases every movie at a local video store after becoming magnetised. In order to keep the struggling business afloat, store employee Mike and Jerry begin remaking the films in the store one by one. Their hilariously low-budget versions of films such as GHOSTBUSTERS and RUSH HOUR 2 soon begin to draw attention and business to the store, but that creates a whole new set of problems for the pair.
Feelgood comedy-of-errors starring Jack Black as a man who accidentally erases all the videos in his friend's store, then has to re-make them to keep the business going. Junkyard worker Jerry (Black) thinks the power plant directly opposite is threatening his health. Taking matters into his own hands, he opts for a pre-emptive strike, but in the process manages to magnetise his brain. Turning up at 'Be Kind Rewind', the video store where his friend Mike (Mos Def) works, Jerry's electro-brain succeeds in erasing all the tapes in the store. Desperate to keep the business from going under, Mike and Jerry hit on a plan to remake every film in the store in their own inimitable way. Unfortunately for them, their scheme is soon scuppered when news of their plan escapes, prompting legal threats of copyright infringement, and the closure of the store. But just when all seems lost, the friends' belief in human nature is finally restored in the most unexpected way.
