In my opinion, the first half of "Donkey Punch" is amazing. In it, three regular English lasses from Leeds get ready, go out, meet some guys, drink a bit, go out on a yacht, swim, flirt, take some drugs and exchange dirty stories, whilst on holiday in Mallorca. Two of them decide to get down and dirty in the yacht's bedroom with, initially two, then three of the young men. The third girl, the more innocent one, the one you know will survive whatever is going to happen, stays up top with the fourth, nicer, guy. All of this, as seedy and occasionally cringe inducing as it is, is filmed as though this is the archetypal, the ideal, the young women's truly desired and dream holiday in Mallorca. It looks beautiful, as though filmed by Nestor Almendros (who shot "Days in Heaven"), and easily overcomes the occasional flaw in its pacing or script. Then something happens, or "goes wrong" (you'll know exactly what by the time it hits you), and our thriller/horror movie gets started. The second half disappointed me, but it has its moments, and the film is worth seeing if only for the first half. Which, again, I will reiterate, is great.

British thriller in which a carefree holiday in Spain for three young women turns into a living nightmare. Things begin to go awry when Kim (Jaime Winstone), Tammi (Nichola Burley) and Lisa (Sian Breckin) meet three young men and, after joining them for a private party on their yacht, one of the men, Josh (Julian Morris), performs a dangerous anal sex manoeuvre known as a 'donkey punch' on one of the women, accidentally breaking her neck in the process. To avoid getting in trouble with the police, the other five decide to throw the body overboard. Pretty soon, however, guilt and fear get the better of the group, leading to a vicious fight for survival. Please note this is a region 2 DVD and will require a region 2 (Europe) or region Free DVD Player in order to play.
