First Night DVD

| DVD

Adam (Richard E. Grant) is a rich industrialist and frustrated opera singer aspiring to a more cultured world. Spurred on by playful jibes that he's just a City suit living a capitalist dream he decides to stage an opera in his lavish country retreat. He feels sure the shallow taunting will end once his friends see him in full voice. In fact his singing might even help him win the hand of Celia (Sarah Brightman) the female conductor he's been pursuing, especially since she is the first to be recruited for his showpiece.

Richard E. Grant stars as rich industrialist and frustrated amateur opera singer, Adam, in this musical comedy-drama. Adam decides to throw an opera in his lavish country retreat, partly to impress his friends, but mainly to win the heart of a female conductor (played by classical music star Sarah Brightman).

Breezy romantic comedy on an operatic note. Richard E. Grant stars as Adam, a wealthy industrialist whose cultural aspirations include a long-held dream of playing Don Alfonso in Mozart's comic opera 'Cosi Fan Tutte'. In a bid to silence his critics and make his dream a reality, Adam invites a cast of talented amateurs to his stately home to stage a production of the opera under the direction of the long-suffering Celia (Sarah Brightman). But can his money buy him the admiration he craves - let alone the hand of the beautiful conductor Nicoletta (Mia Maestro) on whom he has set his heart?
