Scottish director Brian Welsh's debut feature is a hard-hitting drama portraying the return of a soldier to her home on a Middlesbrough council estate after completing a tour of duty in Iraq. Suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder after witnessing first-hand the death of an Iraqi child, Suzy (Joanne Froggatt) has difficulty reconnecting with her own daughter Cass (Chloe-Jane Wilkinson). As her feelings of guilt and paranoia intensify, her behaviour becomes increasingly erratic to the point where her parental abilities are called into question.
