This atmospheric Wim Wenders movie follows a sound engineer as he travels to Lisbon to help a friend with a film project. Receiving a request from his film-maker friend Friedrich Monroe (Patrick Bauchau) for his help in finishing his latest documentary about Lisbon, Phillip Winter (Rudiger Vogler) arrives to find his friend missing and the film unfinished. Deciding to carry on regardless, Winters soaks up the city, recording its sounds for the film, and slowly falling for the charms of singer Teresa (Teresa Salgueiro), whose band is working on the film's soundtrack.
