Lost Highway has been described by its director as a 21st century film noir a graphic investigation into parallel identity crises a world where time is dangerously out of control and finally a terrifying ride down the lost highway. With typically Lynchian dreamlike quality Lost Highway expands the horizons of the medium taking its audience on a journey through the unknown and the unknowable. It is not only about the human psyche it seems to take place inside it. S
This film is brilliant. Aesthetically it is chilling. The acting is cruel and real. The plot is fast paced and disturbing and the soundtrack is eerie and capturing.
This film is a must-have for anyone who likesDavid Lynch. It is definitely one of his best.
Even if you don't understand any of the possible philosophical subtexts picked up on by repeated viewings then you will at least be thrilled and scared to the core by the amazing imagery and seedy characters. It certainly burnt on my retina.
I think if possible it is very good to get a David Lynch DVD which contains an interview or so. This one contains two. One from the time around which this film was made and one made in retrospect. Although Lynch likes to keep you guessing about what his films really mean he is bound to shed some light on it. He speaks much wisdom.
Unfortunately it seem this slipcase is very rare jumping in and out of print every few seconds. I say get it while you can. It looks very nice.
