| DVD

In French comedy Mammuth the legendary Gerard Depardieu shines in his most uninhibited role to date, for which he was nominated for a Csar Award. In French comedy Mammuth legendary actor Gérard Depardieu shines in his most uninhibited role to date. Cult directors Benoît Delépine and Gustave Kervern (Louise-Michel, Aaltra) pull out all the stops in this outrageously funny and subversive tale of one man's attempt to secure his state pension, whilst facing the prospect of retirement and the inevitability of growing old in the modern world. Depardieu plays Serge Piladosse, a recently retired abattoir worker, who must retrieve former employment records in order to claim his full pension payout. As Serge embarks on a haphazard trip down memory lane, punctuated by visitations from his 'lost love' (Isabelle Adjani) and egged on by his wacky yet suspicious wife Catherine (Yolande Moreau), he discovers some difficult truths about his past lives and estranged family members, forcing him to take a new perspective on life. A box office smash hit in France and with three César Award nominations under its belt, Mammuth is one of the year's funniest, most surprising and ultimately poignant comedies that will surely be considered a career best performance from leading man Gérard Depardieu. French drama starring Gerard Depardieu as a retiree who takes to the road in his battle for his pension. Serge (Depardieu), a slaughterhouse operative, has finally reached retirement age after working without a break since he was 16-years-old. But how will he fill his days after a lifetime of work? He has no hobbies and is not particularly close to his wife Catherine (Yolande Moreau), who still works in a supermarket. When it emerges that Serge will not be automatically entitled to his retirement benefits owing to an administrative error by his former employers, he sets out across the country on his old Munch 'Mammut' bike in search of the missing paperwork - and finds himself coming face-to-face with unexpected elements of his past and present.
