Mrs Helly (Brenda Fricker) thinks her son Victor (Stuart Townsend) can do no wrong, but he is in fact a viciously violent member of Ireland's underworld. Even his gang are shocked when he carves up one of his victims with a stanley knife. But Victor wins the approval and encouragement of the mysterious McLure (Sean McGinley) and embarks on a series of random killings. As Victor becomes a much-feared local legend, local journalist Ryan sets out to bring him to justice.
