BBC documentary series presented by historian Ruth Goodman and archaeologists Peter Ginn and Tom Pinfold. As they set out on their journey to Guedelon in the Burgundy region of France, Ruth, Peter and Tom prepare themselves to take part in the biggest, most ambitious archaeological project ever undertaken. They are becoming part of an experiment that began back in 1997 to build a medieval castle from scratch using only the tools and materials that would have been available at the time. Set to take 25 years to complete, this series documents the team's progress and the overall progression of the build.
