Detective Luke 'Whispering' Smith (Ladd) investigates when the Barton brothers (Murvyn Vye, Ward Wood and Robert Kortman) hold up a train, leaving a guard dead. Smith is reunited with his old friend, railroad worker Murray Sinclair (Preston), but comes to believe he may be involved with the Bartons.
