DVD 1 - Rehearsal and Documentary:This documentary gives fascinating insight into Abbado's rehearsal methods, featuring the orchestra and the chorus of La Scala, Montserrat Caballa and others. The film shows rehearsals for this grandiose musical creation taking place in three different locations: at the Church of San Marco in Milan with some or all of the soloists, choirs and orchestra on its one: and, thirdly, in one of the rehearsal rooms of the opera house, in some cases with different singers who were involved in a second performance. The result is an opportunity to directly compare the performances of two sopranos and two tenors.DVD 2 Performance - Recorded At The Edinburgh Festival 1982.

In 1980, during the production of his seminal hip-hop film Wild Style, acclaimed director Charlie Ahearn moved his young family into a loft off Times Square with a direct view into the dark raw heart of a desperate city. While there he compiled a video journal of the wild street action and relentless violence that took place just outside his windows. A home movie that captures the old capital of sleaze in all its pathetic and pre-Giuliani glory.

In late June 1966 The Beatles played three celebrated concerts at the Budokan Hall in Tokyo Japan. On August 6 they released their album Revolver which broke new musical ground in terms of sound and instrumental variation. The Beatles used classical elements and pre-recorded tape loops to embellish lengthy elaborate songs like Eleanor Rigby Good Day Sunshine I'm Only Sleeping For No One and the psychedelic flavoured Tomorrow Never Knows. In autumn that same year the band took a three-months vacation from which they emerged with a totally different image: their mushroom hair style was a thing of the past their black suits had been replaced by colourful stage outfits and all four band members had grown moustaches. That means The Beatles At The Budokan is one of the last film documents of the Fab Four sporting their legendary image of the early years. 1. Rock & Roll Music 2. Shes The Woman 3.
