Antti Jokinen directs this Finnish-language drama following the relationship that develops between two Eastern European women of different generations who have suffered immense hardships. In search of refuge from a gang of criminals in Estonia, Zara (Amanda Pilke) is offered sanctuary by her Great Aunt Aliide (Liisi Tandefelt). Zara and Aliide have never met before, with the only connection between the two a photograph of the young Aliide (Laura Birn) Zara was passed by her mother. However, as the two women get to know each other, the story of Aliide's troubled history during Stalin's ruthless reign emerges and a bond begins to grow between the two as the past speaks to the present.
