Tomb of the Cybermen, to me, is one of the best Doctor Who episodes ever made. It contains the likes of Patrick Troughton, the Cybermen, a group of scientists with some planning to turn against the others. It sets itself up for a really great episode. The first two, although not containing many Cybermen, do not bore and entertain just as much as the action packed last 2 episodes. The Cybermen themselves are in great form, showing no emotion and give a real sense of fright about them (more than the Cybermen of the 70's and 80's did) .
Also included on the disc is a documentary called TombWatch made in 1993 after the episode was found, another special feature tells of how the Restoration Team restored the episode, getting rid of scratches, glitches etc and provides it in a good amount of detail. Another good feature is "The Final End" which contains a Dalek battle from the previous story (Evil of the Daleks) and is the only known footage from Episode 7 of that story.
Unfortuantly because this was released a few years back before 2entertain there aren't as many Special Features as newer DVDs, though that isn't a real problem considering how good the story itself is.
I give Tomb of the Cybermen a 5 out of 5.
Tomb of the Cybermen is a 4 part episode from Patrick Troughton's second season in Doctor Who and begun the 5th series of the long running Doctor Who.
In the episode the Doctor finds himself on the planet Telos where a group of scientists are looking for the last known whereabouts of the Cybermen. Ultimately they awake the Cybermen and must find a way to stop them.
Lets face it there have been a lot of these type of films around in recent years. Some of the them very good - others seem to be rewritten versions of earlier ones. But Ratatouille is one of the best.
The storyline, music and depth (yes I did say depth) of the characters is great for a 2D film.
It is just an enjoyable very well put together film - the actors chosen for the parts are well cast and (apart from one use of dodgy language late in the film which shocked the younger member of our family, and is the reason why I rated as good instead of excellent), I would recommend it to all.
Much higher than average animation
Well its Tommy Cooper what do you expect. How can you not laugh at the comic genius of the man. What ever you feel like Tommy will have you laughing in minutes and strangly enough although we knew what was coming, and could even say the lines before him eventually we still laughed out loud.
Everyone benefits from a good laugh now and again and Tommy is one of the best for providing them.
This is great medicine
My wife and I went to see this film at the cinema and despite the fact that it is not fact enjoyed the storyline. I suppose that the jury is still out on Anne Hathaway's ability as a major screen actress but she plays this part pretty well. On the other hand James McAvoy, as prooved by his performance in 'The last King of Scotland' is certainly a box office winner.
It was enjoyable film, we bought the DVD as soon as it was released and have found ourselves returning to further viewings as it is a good film to watch sitting around in the evening.
Enjoyable film
As a family we had really enjoyed the first two films in this series, however despite the fact that it boasts a high profile cast and even a guest appearance from a famous rock star it just does not live up to the billing as the climax of the story. The effects were stunning at first but I even found myself losing interest at the climax of the film, the battle at the worlds end as the same idea seemed to be recycled over and over again. A good film maybe to watch once but I would not recommend it more than twice.
Loaded with special effects and high profile stars but does not quite deliver
Over her dead body is an amazing film. Its highly funny and an excellant Romantic Comedy. I went to see it at the cinemas with my friends and we all thought its great. Its about a man and woman, Henry and Kate, who love each other and are going to get married when on their wedding day an ice sculpture on the back of a reversing truck falls off and kills Kate(Eva Longoria). You see her going to heaven but they tell her she can't stay until she sorts out her business. So she goes back down to earth to find he has met another woman. Henry met Kate when his sister Chloe (Lindsay Sloane) convinced him to see a physic named Ashley (Lake Bell) because he was so depressed. They fall for each other and Kate does not like what she sees so she reveals herself only to Ashley and creates hell.
Kate realises she must let go and be brave so she says good bye and goes up to heaven.
The movie truly is great and I would recommend it to anyone over the age of 12.
Over her dead body

With Evelyn Waugh's epic novel about to come out as a movie it is great timing that ITV DVD have decided to release this boxset of the original ITV series, first seen in about 1981 and remembered by many as a piece that did much to break the BBCs longstanding stranglehold on truly quality drama productions. How the makers of the new film can hope to do justice to this massively complex eulogy to an entire way of life in the little time Hollywood backers will usually tolerate, who can say? And that's not to mention the book's forays into such trivial side issues as the decline of Catholicism, its role in British society, the evolution of 20th century universities, the effects wrought on Britain by the second world war, and the role of America in that change! What we can say is that this ITV series is as true to the book as its makers could make it. The screenplay by John Mortimer has the touch of a true lover of the original, in much the same way Peter Jackson and wife did for Tolkein. Here, with literally sumptuous performances from all, this is classic stuff from a cast led by Sir Lawrence Olivier in one of his last great performances. Anthony Andrews as Sebastian Flyte and Jeremy Irons as Charles Ryder also produce exceptional work that neither have ever really equalled. Even so, two of the main settings for the story - Oxford in the interwar years, and Yorkshire's glorious Castle Howard (standing in for the Marchmain family 'pile' Brideshead) - almost steal the show, as does the perfectly adept musical score. Whether or not you're a fan of Waugh and the way of life he depicts, if you love British dramatisation at its best, this is an almost 'must have' for your collection, one to savour like an old favourite book - which, when you've seen this, it probably will become!
This film is pure brilliance. Hugo Weaving, Terence Stamp and Guy Pearce bring these characters to life and the comedy is timeless. It's a road, gay, musical, romantic, comedy movie that will stay in your memory forever. A Must See!!!
Based in sydney australia a drag duo act are looking for a holiday away from the city. They join up with an old friend and travel across the outback in a converted bus listening to show tunes heading for alice springs to perform at a new show evening. The road is long and problems arise but in the face of adversity they still look fabulous
For those who want a film that does more than assault the senses, one of the best offerings of the year comes from Director Ben Affleck (yes, you did read that right) and starring little Affleck brother Casey. At the heart of this gritty Boston-set movie lies a dilemma as taut as any Greek tragedy. Private 'dick' Pat Kenzie (Affleck) takes on the case of the sad parents of a missing 3 year old, in a case with echoes of the Maddie McCann incident. His girlfriend Angie (Michelle Monaghan) has misgivings about getting involved, and with good reason. But the dilemma is that when Kenzie does 'the wrong thing' he is praised by those around him; how then will he react when faced with doing 'the right thing' knowing, as he does, that it will cost him all he holds dear? Oldr Affleck does a great job of evoking the seediness and sadnesss of America's poorer white districts and the lives people lead in them. And any film with Morgan Freeman and Ed Harris in important roles has a heck of lot going for it. The result isn't an easy to watch movie, but is a thought provoking and tense thriller that will satnd as a real 'mark maker' for both Mrs Affleck's boys.
Soooo pleased with this find. I can't get over how cheap the pack was and no trudging round the shops either! Great!!!
Let me just get this out of the way at the start ( supernatural is the best show on tv 'period' i think its better than 24, heroes, and prison break, and i rate them all highly ) it's just got better and better from episode 1 and season 3 is no different picking up after the yellow eyed demon has bitten the bullet, sam and dean search for a way out of dean's bargain he made with a deamon to bring Sam back to life which involved him selling his soul, in this season the brother's find an unexpected alie and discover and new big bad demon who want's to paint the wall's with sam's blood....all in all this is a fantastic season even though it was cut down due to the writers strike,, its got classic rock, cool cloth's ,bad ass,s ,and plenty of 1 liners, this is the show for YOU.
The languorous pace of this film might seem off-putting to modern audiences but it is truly worth giving a go as it is worthy of the "classic" label. It starts with someone asking a favour of the Don and in that first scene all of the ideas of the gangster lifestyle are brought up *the respect, the violence, the strange sense of honour) as Vito Corleone twists and turns his language to defeat his appellant. The film follows the Corleone family through a troubled period in their "business" as reluctance to work with drugs starts off a deadly chain-reaction feud that last for years. Son of the Don, Michael Corleone, returns a war hero and is gradually drawn into the family business that no-one wanted him to be involved in. This is a film full of violence and double-crossing but is also notable for its great acting particularly from Al Pacino and Marlon Brando and for the character development of Michael. If you have not seen it before you will doubtless recognise many lines but that just goes towards the quality of the script. The second film may be the jewel of the trilogy but with this as a set-up it would have been hard pressed to go wrong.
Like eating chocolate in bed, watching Boston Legal is like a delicious guilty secret. I feel loathe to tell people how good it is in case they start to watch it too, and by doing so, somehow dilute my pleasure. Instead I view it and savour every brilliantly crafted moment by writers and actors who are exquisitely in synch with each other, and when the series ends, revel in the telling of what a great show has been missed by friends.
In keeping with the previous three series', this latest serving is a great mixture of comedy and drama. James Spader and William Shatner again steal most of the best scenes, but they are superbly assisted by actors playing some of the best drawn characters on television. Jerry Espenson, played wonderfully by Christian Clemenson is just one example. It is a credit to the writers that each series seems to lose one or more of its main characters but replaces them so well with new ones that the viewer hardly seems to notice.
If you haven't yet seen Boston Legal, then I envy you, for by watching it with new eyes, you have a marvelous four season treat ahead of you.
The best of M. Night Shyamalan's films and written with Bruce Willis in mind, the Sixth Sense is one of the most original suspense dramas to come out of Hollywood in a long time. Well constructed characters, an engaging plot and enjoyable, fitting twist make this film one of the most talked about for years and deservedly so. Whilst not highly re-watchable, after a while coming back to this it was enjoyable and gave you chance to pick up all the little clues throughout the film hinting at the twist. Overall, definitely worth another look, and on blu-ray brings the crystal clear image and best sound to your home experience. The film doesn't hugely benefit from being on blu-ray but it is still a good improvement over the DVD version.
A psychiatrist assigned to help a young boy overcome some irrational fears is in for a big surprise.
Good Will Hunting is the story of a likeable young man (Will - Matt Damon) who is lost in life. He is incredibly intelligent but comes from a poor background and has preferred to use his fists, quick temper and smart mouth rather than his brain to get along in life. He hangs around with his three friends, lives alone in a run down house and does odd jobs (if he can hang onto them). All this changes when he solves a maths problem and his talents come to light. Professor Lambeau tells Will he wants to help him, but to improve his attitude Will must visit a psychiatrist, Sean (Robin Williams). Through his clashes with Sean and his interest in University student Skylar (Minni Driver) Will"s doubts about his own place in the world and his self-loathing are unearthed. This could be the plot of a fairly generic film but it turns out to be a film in which the script sparkles and the cast shine. The characters seem to have true chemistry with one another and play their parts well but the film definitely belongs to Matt Damon and Robin Williams (the latter of whom won an Oscar for his role here) as their relationship develops from reluctant to admiring. The script also won an Oscar, and it is easy to see why with really delightful and thoughtful pieces of writing going into the script, again mostly for Damon and Williams, along with a host of quotable lines. There are comic moments and moments of extreme pain but overall this is a feel-good film in the best way possible - without being schmaltzy. When the ending comes you feel that it has truly been earned.
This series is fanflippin tastic with bells hanging off them!! I have watched these 2 in action for over 10 years and I still havent got bored of them. Rik Mayall is my hero as he is a great actor and phenomenomly funny. Any Rik Mayall or Ade Edmondson fan should buy it. If you watch Holby City and like Adrian Edmondson but havent seen bottom then you havent seen nothing yet! I'd recommend this great series to anyone!
The 2 biggest losers in the history of the world living in a dirty flat, both jobless and share the same hobby - kicking the cr£p out of each other! Richard Richard is a sad pervert and virgin and would try anything to have a quick wriggle, whereas Edward Elizabeth Hitler Is constantly drunk and will go to any limits in order to get another pint from the Lamb & Flag pub
Mad Men follows Don Draper, the troubled but brilliant creative director, as he works at top advertising firm Sterling Cooper. He has to contend with his hedonistic and self-destructive boss, the vile rival for his job Peter and a host of family problems. In a series well publicised for containing realistic depiction of the time it is set in from the regular drinking and smoking to the sexism and homophobia - none of these activities are preached about and the audience are left to draw their own conclusions. Don Draper stands out for being perhaps the only decent male on display on Mad Men amongst the women there are many likeable characters. Don"s wife Betty struggles to be a good mother and wife while trying to suppress any dreams or desires that would have been incompatible with the time. Peggy, Don"s secretary, tries to build a career for herself while trying to avoid succumbing to the charms of smarmy Peter and Joan the head secretary finds that although she is not as happy with her life as she thought she was. Each character though, good or bad, is played exceptionally well as the acting is another good thing about this series. One criticism might be that as with The Sopranos this is a show that is paced slowly and this can fool you into thinking that not very much happens - however it is worth sticking with as there is payoff. The series contains both series and serial elements, each episode tends to focus on one particular advertising job but the way in which the characters work together and the ongoing storylines so it is easy to get into but also rewarding for those who watch from the start. There are mysteries that get uncovered as the series goes on and the final episode is tense and shocking. That is not all, this series is stunningly filmed and put together - a real feast for the eyes with the authentic costumes, settings and scenery shown at their best with beautiful cinematography. Mad Men can make you nostalgic for a bygone era while also making you glad of the advancements made since that time. It is also a thoroughly enjoyable and entertaining series.
I have just returned from seeing Lee Evans perform on his 'Big' tour here in Birmingham, and I must say this was absolutely phenomenal.
I've been a fan of all of his work, and I've watched his stand up tours many times over, but this one had me laughing from start to finish, as it did everyone in attendance. From the moment he enters the stage with his hilarious opening video, to the moment he closes with his trademark song, this is a must see for any Lee Evans fans, or even any fans who appreciate comedy and fancy a laugh.
All in all this DVD will make an excellent Christmas present for Lee's fans, and anyone else really.
Personally, I believe its his best show yet.
I saw this DVD at Greenbelt Festival 2008 and was blown away. It gives a sensitive insight into the band and combines their music beautifully with the stunning backdrop of the places they performed & grew up in. I would recommend this DVD to anyone who enjoys fantastic music & jaw-droppingly beautiful scenery. I came away from the experience of watching this DVD freezing cold (It was August Bank Holiday & an open air screening) but with the joy & peace that comes from seeing people who love what they do & create beauty from anything and everything they encounter. Wow.
