  Roy Rogers became famous as a singer and cowboy actor gaining the nickname King of the Cowboys. He and his third wife Dale Evans his Golden Palomino Trigger and his German Shepherd Bullet were featured in over 100 movies and The Roy Rogers Show. Apache Rose (1947) is a typical Rogers-Evans musical western: few surprises but plenty of entertainment value. Rogers plays an oilman who hopes to get drilling rights to an old Spanish settlement in California. The villains plot to grab up the land from themselves exploiting a handful of highly suspect IOU's for that purpose. Much of the plot hinges on a gambling boat owned by Billie Colby (Evans) a setting that offers plenty of opportunity for a steady stream of musical numbers. A tense action-filled climax caps this delightful diversion.

Paul married singer Mary Ford in 1949 and together they had hit records during the 1950's including Mockin' Bird Hill and Vaya Con Dios. They also hosted a successful TV show The Les Paul and Mary Ford at Home Show (1953-1960). This 60-minute programme features 15 performances by Les Paul and Mary Ford in the comfort of their own home.
