Slipknot headlined the annual Download Festival on June 13th 2009 performing in front of 80 000 of their rabid fans. The performance was absolutely electric in typical Slipknot fashion especially since it came hot on the heels of one of the strongest years in Slipknot's illustrious career. It makes perfect sense that the band known for their eclectic DVD collection ranging from multi-camera angle concert documents to arthouse-style films would release (sic)nesses. All Slipknot shows are memorable but this one is particularly memorable as the band blasted through hits from all of their albums. On stage is Slipknot in its most natural state and (sic)nesses will put you in the front row. 30 cameras were on hand to capture every possible angle of the band as they motored through their parade of hits; the cameras also caught the fans on tape as they are just as crucial an element of a Slipknot show as the band members themselves.Perhaps most importantly (sic)nesses is one of the final major performances for founding member Paul Gray who tragically passed away in May 2010. While initially unintended the concert is a testament to the legacy of Gray where fans can enjoy a lasting glimpse of the bassist doing what he loved most. Additionally the DVD also includes a 45-minute behind the scenes documentary created by band percussionist Clown as well as all four music videos from the All Hope Is Gone cycle and the making of the Snuff.Tracklist: DVD 1 1. The Best of the Corrs video collection follows far behind their first "Best of" CD collection, which hit the shops in 2001. Perhaps an explanation for this delay is the band's sometimes contradictory concern to promote their music rather than their image. This is further demonstrated by the simple, formulaic videos on the collection which, apart from "Give Me a Reason", all feature the four hammering their respective instruments. This drives home another important distinction between them and other contemporary pop acts, which Caroline and co have always been keen to promote: they know how to play their instruments, and passionately. The serious and grey unplugged videos for "Radio" and "Everybody Hurts" also further highlight these concerns of credibility. "Love to Love You", featuring footage of the band on an early tour, does look decidedly cheap and nasty but not all the videos are equally drab: produced at the pinnacle of their global success, "Breathless" and the tongue-in-cheek promo to "Would You Be Happier" are glossy, big-budget affairs, which generate a much-needed feel-good factor that is notably absent from a lot of their other videos. On the DVD: The Best of the Corrs has digital stereo versions of 18 of their greatest hits, plus six of these also in surround sound. For such an anthology the bonus features are especially poor, with a limited picture gallery and a DVD discography. The accompanying eight-page booklet does at least provide a useful insight into the making of the videos. It's also pleasing to hear the early and graceful instrumental track "Erin Shore" being used as the backing track for the menus. --John Galilee

This imaginatively titled release contains both footage of Rage Against the Machine in concert and uncensored versions of six of the group's videos. This isn't quite the value for money it might sound, since most of their videos are heavily reliant on concert footage anyway, and in a couple of cases it's difficult to tell one from the other. That said, the concert footage, taken from a few different RATM shows, is crisply shot and conveys enough of RATM's intoxicating (if one-dimensional) ferocity to be effective. A couple of the videos are also worth seeing, if only because they wouldn't have much hope of getting played on television: the clip for "Freedom", especially, is a clever and acute retelling of the story of American Indian Movement activist Leonard Peltier, shortly to complete his third decade of imprisonment. On the DVD: Rage Against the Machine on disc has a choice of stereo sound or Dolby Digital 5.1. English subtitles are available on most tracks. Special features include a track selector, contacts for organisations with which RATM are sympathetic, and a book list largely comprising indigestible polemical tracts of the sort often bought, but rarely read, by the earnest students who constitute Rage Against the Machine's core audience. However, given that most bands use any spare capacity on their DVDs to flog T-shirts, RATM deserve credit for trying something different. --Andrew Mueller
