An excellent series, although it does get better in the later series this is an excellent place to start. There are some real bargains to be picked up so snap up the series now while they are ridiculously cheap!
Also, if you like this try Futurama.

What a timeless piece. This is family fun throughout the film, especially the children whose acting gives it real sentiment and all over happy feel.

  • Madagascar [2005]
    Ave Turner 21 Dec 2005

Bought the film from sainsburys £9.99
Really good film very funny but has to be watced again without the kids so I can get to see all the bits that went over the kids heads.
Loved the penguins mission impossible part.
Great all round film and kids loved it too

  • Ever After [1998]
    Victoria Rush 20 Dec 2005

Every little girl dreams of being Cinderella, even more so when hormones kick in and Prince Charming really does not seem to exist.

Drew Barrymore fulfills every girl dream perfectly, exactly how soft and lovely you grow up expecting Cinderella to be.

Definitely a worthwhile purchase just for the look on the evil stepsisters face. Even though you can't help to love one of the 'not so evil afterall'

This definitely gives the happily ever after feel of a good chick flick and your money will not be wasted - although you will still be dreaming of glass slippers - why can you not buy them anywhere nowadays?!!!

  • Goodfellas (Special Edition) [1990]
    Danny 20 Dec 2005

Wow. That would be my one word review but I'll go into a bit of detail.
From start to finish this film is taking you through the life of a man that well could have been you or your next door neighbour (if you live in right neighbourhood) really, thats why I think it is so gripping.
The acting in this is superb with the usual "mafia style/mob villian" actors that are there for the reason that they can make a believable performance.
The film is about a child growing up in a poor house around poor friends, the only thing that is different is the cabstand, nothing special, but to him it is the place to be, so he goes and it changes his life and thats what he wants.
There it begins taking you through the story of his life and what a ride it is, you'll be thrilled and devestated in parts.
    Enjoy

  • Misery [1990]
    Danny 19 Dec 2005

I don't think that all that many films are excellent but this one is just that.
It really drags you into the story, it makes you really feel for the guy, I won't say too much {don't wanna spoil it} The things you see in this film are amazing, the story comes together brilliantly, it has it's humour parts but the 18 is there for a reason. If you like a truly disturbing tale then watch this, it is so dark it gets to you .
Overall brilliant, the acting is spot on, the directing is awsome, you can't really pick any faults with this film without being a complete {for lack of a better word} prig.
    Just sit back and enjoy.

  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off / Planes, Trains And Automobiles [1987]
    Niki Tea 16 Dec 2005

Ferris Bueller's Day Off is a great film for anyone who is a child of the 80's. It shows typical american teenagers having a good time at the expense of their parents and teachers. It has some hilarious as well as touching moments, over all a good time film with an underlying story that hits home for so many.
Planes, Trains and Automobiles is purely John Candy and Steve Martin at their best. Two comedians collide in a rollercoaster of events that will have you roaring with laughter. It is a Christmassy film and although it is extremely funny, it has a sad twist and a very feel good ending.

  • Wedding Crashers (Theatrical And Unrated) [2005]
    Paula Broadley 15 Dec 2005

I was really looking forward to watching this movie, but it didn't live up to it's expectations, I was so bored that I actually fell asleep halfway through it.
It didn't matter though, because it was so slow I didn't miss a thing!

  • 40 Year Old Virgin [2005]
    Nicky 15 Dec 2005

I haven't laughed so much in ages, from beginning to end it was absolutely hilarious. The main characters are so funny and quite loveable, the relationship the group of 'lads' who work together have reminded me of an expanded version of Joey and Chandler in friends. It would appeal to both men and women, my hubby loved it. I don't think the 'clip' which is used to advertise it does it justice as it just looks like a silly smutty film which it really isn't. It seems ridiculous that a man could still be a virgin at 40 but once you see the reasons why (very funny flashbacks of past embarrassing experiences as a teenager / young man) and get to know Andy Stilzer (main characture) you can see how it could happen.

I would highly recommend it, I have seen it twice now and am thinking of buying the DVD to put on at times when I need a bit of a lift !!!!!

  • The Blues Brothers
    Andrew Spinner 15 Dec 2005

This has to go down as one of the greatest comedy films in history. It has a large cult following, which isn't really surprising considering the quality of this entertainment.

A fairly simple storyline, involving raising money for an orphanage with a deadline, is boosted tremendously by the inclusion of great blues songs and terrific attitude by the instantly recognisable Jake and Elwood (John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd). To back them up, some major musicians appear, including Aretha Franklin (absolutely the greatest female soul singer of all time) and Steve Cropper (a highly respected guitarist, of Booker T. and the MGs). Plus, you can see various cameos by names such as Steven Spielberg, Frank Oz, and Twiggy.

The music is a daring blend of styles - and it works. Even if you're not very interested in the blues, you should still watch this - it might just change your mind.

Easily one of the best films ever. Highly recommended.

  • Mr and Mrs Smith [2005]
    LEON FINCH 14 Dec 2005

IT'S NOT ENOUGH THAT THEY ARE TWO OF THE MOST GORGEOUS PEOPLE IN THE WORLD - THEY HAVE TO RUB OUR NOSES IN IT BY SHARING THEIR GORGEOUSNESS WITH, WELL, EACH OTHER!!
MY PERSONAL UMBRIDGE ASIDE, THIS IS A VERY ENJOYABLE FILM, JUST CHECK YOUR BRAIN IN AT THE DOOR AND BE HAPPY TO GO ALONG WITH THE RIDE.
JOLIE & PITT POSITIVELY SMOULDER ON THE SCREEN AND IT'S THIS RELATIONSHIP THAT KEEPS YOU WATCHING THE FRANKLY LUDICROUS PLOT.
BUT THAT'S THE POINT! IT'S MEANT TO BE FUN AND EVERYONE ON SHOW SEEMS TO BE IN ON THE JOKE (ALTHOUGH MORE OF VINCE VAUGHN IS ALWAYS APPRECIATED).
THE ACTION SEQUENCES ARE GREAT AND JOLIE IN BLACK PVC IS WORTH ANYBODY'S MONEY (BOYS & GIRLS) - DIRECTOR DOUG LIMAN SHOWS HE HAS WHAT IT TAKES AGAIN, NO MATTER WHAT THE FILM CALLS FOR.
ENJOY IT, COZ THAT'S WHAT IT'S FOR....

  • A Fistful Of Dynamite (Special Edition) [1972]
    Kashif Ahmed 14 Dec 2005

Sergio Leone"s forgotten masterpiece; "A Fistful Of Dynamite" a.k.a. "Duck, You Sucker!" sees cheeky bandito Rod Steiger, form an unlikely alliance with IRA man James Coburn to rob a bank in Mesa Verde. Chaos ensues, and it"s not long before they"re caught up in the midst of the Mexican revolution. This is not a straightforward western, but more of a political war film with loads of action, guns and gallows humour. A must see for Leone fans.

  • Dark Angel: Complete Season 1 [2001]
    Emma Middleton 11 Dec 2005

I love this series. Tough girl image portrayed excellenty by the gorgeous Jessica Alba. Its nice to see a programme where the women is the tough one for a change. You really end up feeling for this girl throughout the entire series.

This series is primarily about Max (Jessica Alba) trying to hide the secret that she is a genetically engineered girl designed to fight. She was brought up in a faculty with several other kids. At a young age she escaped with 11 of her brothers and sisters but they were all separated. Max has since been on the run from the people who made her and is trying to find the rest of her family. She attempts to do this with the help of her side-kick Logan, who is also her love interest, and is a man with a mission of his own to save the world. All this and she has friends, illnesses, people to rescue, family to meet, and most of all great fights. The setting is Seattle after the 'pulse' which has meant society regressing in technology.

    I highly recommend this series.

  • Fantastic Four 2 Disc [2005]
    LEON FINCH 09 Dec 2005

IT'S A SO-SO ATTEMPT TO TRANSFER THE FANTASTIC FOURSOME FROM PAPER TO SCREEN.
IOAN GRUFFUDD IS FORGETTABLE AS REED AND JESSICA ALBA TOO ATTRACTIVE AND NICE AS SUE. AS FOR JULIAN MCMAHON AS DR DOOM, WELL, JUST STICK TO YOUR DAY JOB ON NIP/TUCK MATE.
TO BE FAIR, THE FILM ITSELF IS JUST TOO SAFE, WE'VE GROWN ACCUSTOMED TO A LITTLE MORE FROM OUR SUPERHERO FILMS THESE DAYS. UNFORTUNATELY THE DIRECTOR NEVER ONCE TAKES THE TRAINER WHEELS OFF AND AS A RESULT WE GET PRETTY GOOD POPCORN FODDER BUT NOT MUCH MORE.
THE BEST BITS COME FROM THE SPARRING BETWEEN CHIKLIS AS THE THING AND EVANS AS THE TORCH (IN A SURPRISINGLY LIKEABLE TURN) - JUST AS IN THE COMICS, IT'S THEIR RELATIONSHIP THAT KEEPS YOU INTERESTED.
IF THIS IS INDEED THE START OF A FRANCHISE, THEN MAKE DOOM A LITTLE MORE NASTY (AND NOT AS EASY TO BEAT), MAKE THE THING GET MORE PI$$ED OFF AND HAVE HIM WIND THE TORCH UP EVEN MORE.
JUST TAKE A CHANCE NEXT TIME HUH?

  • Blake's 7 - Series 4
    Mike Oldfield 07 Dec 2005

If you've watched the other three series then you'll not need me to tell you what an excellent thing the whole of Blakes seven was, yes the scenery & the special effects were not up to todays standards (or even the standards of the time) but the story lines were original & often thought provoking and the interaction between the players was what made the program buzz. In this the last series most of the caracters are new but that doesn't affect the flow too much, The end of the last episode left me feeling stunned and still does to this day.I will watch it again with gleeful nostalgia.
