The celebrated chef Rick Stein undertakes a journey laced with history, literature and stunning imagery, through the hidden parts of Spain. Rick Stein has visited Spain since he was a young boy. According to Rick, no one cooks fish with more respect or grills meat better. Now, he travels the length and breadth of the country in an old campervan, going off the beaten track to discover the ‘Duende’ - the authentic soul of Spanish cooking. Rick’s journey begins in Galicia – famous for pilgrims, rain, fog, fresh seafood, empanadas and more rain. He enjoys a cider festival at Gijon; samples the famous ‘fabada’ – a hearty bean stew with sausage, belly pork and black pudding; and explores the making of Cabrales cheese in secret caves. Rick learns all about ‘pinxos’, the tapas of the north, while in San Sebastian, then it’s on to Navarra and its most famous town, Pamplona – known for its bull running, Ernest Hemingway - and the Catalonian town of Lleida, which is crazy about snails! Continuing his journey through the spectacular countryside, Rick also eats some of the best seafood in the country, including prawns from Palamos, best simply tossed in a hot pan with sea salt – sweet and succulent! After a spectacular paella festival in Valencia where the iconic dish was first created, the campervan moves towards the centre of the country, the land of Don Quixote in Castilla-La Mancha, where Rick visits the vineyard of Campo de Criptana and joins the local garlic farmers for the best garlic soup in the world. He finishes his travels in Andalucia’s fabulous city of Seville where the old world met the new world and changed the way we ate forever.

  • Ferris Bueller's Day Off [1987]Ferris Bueller's Day Off | DVD | (31/07/2000) from £4.98   |  Saving you £11.01 (221.08%)   |  RRP £15.99

Like a soda pop left open all night, Ferris Bueller's Day Off seems to have lost its effervescence over time. Sure, Matthew Broderick is still appealing as the perennial truant, Ferris, who takes one memorable day off from school. Jeffrey Jones is nasty and scheming as the principal who's out to catch him. Jennifer Grey is winning as Ferris' sister (who ends up making out in the police station with a prophetic vision of Charlie Sheen). But there's a definite sense that this film was of a particular time frame: the 80s. It's still fun, though. There's Ferris singing "Twist and Shout" during a Chicago parade, and a lovely sequence in the Art Institute. But don't get it and expect your kids to love it the way you did. Like it or not, it's yours alone. --Keith Simanton, Amazon.com

Produced by Emmyaward winning producers Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog, The Seventies is the second series in the acclaimed documentary strand chronicling American society and popular culture in the later twentieth century. In many ways, the 1970s were as dramatic as the 1960s. America lost its first war and endured two energy crises, and a President resigned after an unprecedented political scandal. Television tackled once-taboo subjects, while in a decade of cultural diversity, popular music enjoyed a multi-genre explosion. There was a revolution in sexual mores and gender roles; serial killings and other violent crime kept the nation on edge, and bombing, hijacking and hostage-taking introduced the world to the modern face of terrorism. This epic series uses rare archival footage and interviews with renowned journalists, historians, musicians and television artists to paint a vivid and compelling portrait of a decade of lasting consequence. The United States v. Nixon A third rate burglary leads to the only presidential resignation in American history. Television Gets Real With increasingly sophisticated programming, television finds a new maturity. Peace with Honor The country begins to come to terms with the impact of the war in Vietnam. Terrorism: At Home and Abroad The birth and evolution of terrorism as we know it today. What's Goin' On Pop music explodes into new genres, as established artists find new creative voice. The State of the Union is Not Good America seems to go from bad to worse as the country careens from crisis to crisis. Battle of the Sexes America undergoes a seismic shift in sexual mores, customs and gender roles. Crimes and Cults An unprecedented wave of violent crime grips America.
